Bars!!!!!!!!!!!!! This joint just hit the net and is guaranteed to get people talking. Shady brings his newest signees on board for their first joint all together called “2.0 Boys.” Royce, Em, Joell, Budden, Crooked and Yelawolf all drop crazy verses on this shit. If these cats are going in like this, I can’t wait to hear what all the music is gonna sound like. Check it out below. I promise you will have to rewind SEVERAL times.
2011 is starting off well for Yelawolf, who is the latest addition to Eminem’s Shady Records along with Slaughterhouse. Yelawolf drops his new video for Good To Go featuring Bun B. The video is pretty sick. Definitely a great way to kick off his new Shady deal. I can’t wait to hear what Yelawolf will drop now. He is definitely one of my favorite cats to come out in the last few years. If you don’t already have Trunk Muzik, you need to get that now.
In case you haven’t heard, Eminem and Shady Records announced two big acquisitions to their label and announced the signings this week. Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf will now be joining Eminem’s roster. CRAZY. There were a bunch of rumors about Slaughterhouse signing last year but Yelawolf came as a pleasant surprise. I’m real excited to see what Yelawolf will do now with Shady and Interscope behind him. Sounds like things will get a little crazy. In light of this signing, I wanted to share a couple of videos from Shady Records signees, Cashis and Obie Trice. Cashis has a joint called Lac Motion several years back that was SICK. Of course, everyone knows Obie Trice, dude is sick too. Also, here are a couple Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse videos to get wet your whistle. Happy Friday!!!!!!!!!
Several new albums dropped last week from big names like Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Lloyd Banks, Ne-Yo, Currensy and Yelawolf. Kanye managed to grab the top spot selling just under 500K. Nicki Minaj is right below Yeezy selling 375K for her debut album. Lloyd Bank cracked the top 25 with 45K while Yelawolf sold 5,100 of his mixtape turned EP. Check out both sets of numbers below.
Shout out to Currensy for dropping two albums in a few months. Even though I’m not a fan, I can respect his independent hustle. He is holding his own. I guess I should probably give Nicki Minaj’s album a quick listen. What do you think? Until next time………
I was bumping a few mixtapes over the thanksgiving break in addition to Kanye’s new album. I often find myself struggling with the Leaders of the New School or cats that supposedly who will take over this hip hop thing for the next several years. I have heard hip hop is dead and although I don’t really agree with that, I think that the focus on money and fame over the actual music has led to some horrible trends especially in the mainstream. Without pointing fingers, I wanted to share some videos from a few cats who I think are dope and hopefully will have the ability to capture the mainstream’s eyes and ears and really run the game. Yelawolf, J. Cole and Big K.R.I.T. are three cats who I think definitely deserve their shine and hopefully can continue putting out dope music. Here are some videos from each of these cats to let you know that there are capable emcees getting some love. Hopefully they can get even more attention in the near future.
Here is some more Friday heat for everyone. Big Boi’s new video dropped for his joint, You Ain’t No DJ featuring Yelawolf. The track is also produced by Andre 3000. I would have loved to hear him kick a verse but regardless he killed the beat. It’s still holding true, Big Boi has the album of the year. Kanye better drop some HEATERS because that Charlie Wilson and Beyonce song won’t do it. Check out “You Ain’t No DJ” below.
I mentioned today’s post yesterday but now, officially, I am a Yelawolf fan. I heard about dude a while back when I saw the video for “Mixing Up The Medicine” video featuring Juelz Santana. I thought the song was cool but didn’t do much listening after that. Although I kept up with his progress and his buzz building, I didn’t really listen to him again until his feature on Big Boi’s album, Ain’t No DJ. I thought he sounded fresh on that joint so I figured that I would download his project, Trunk Musik. I bumped it several times this weekend and found myself really enjoying dude’s sound and his style. His flow is bananas too. I really like the countryness he brings to the table, much like Big K.R.I.T. They both seem to be rooted in down south music but still keep it sharp lyrically much like UGK, Outkast and T.I. I think Yelawolf also has a unique place for himself carved out because of his ability to sing a little bit too. I will be interested to see what Yelawolf brings to the table at Interscope especially since Eminem has done so well for the label. I definitely predict another XXL Fresh of the Year knod for Yelawolf next year too. In the mean time, check out his video for “Mixing Up The Medicine” and the remix video for “I Wish featuring Pill and CyHi Da Prynce. Definitely download Trunk Muzik and play it where it should be played.
