Video Mash Up

I wanted to do something a little different today besides my typical daily soundtrack.  A lot of dope videos have dropped in the past week so I wanted to share some of my favorites.  A few might catch everyone offguard but I like some radio shit just as much as the next man even though I hate pretty hard at times.  Drake even make a couple appearances on my list today.  The first video is from Drake and Timbaland for their song Say Something.  I love this joint and Drake once again solidifies his spot.  It’s hard to hate this man right now but I’m sure I can find something.

The second video is Cannon, whichi is of my favorite joints from Cory Gunz mixtape, Heir to the Throne.  Despite Cory looking a little uncomfortable handling guns, the song is really dope and its cool to see a video for it too.

The third video is for Gucci Mane’s song Lemonade. This video kind of makes my eyes hurt with all this bright ass yellow.  This song is a little too addictive.  It’s good to see Waka Flocka Flame in the video too.

The fourth video is for Mos Def’s joint Supermagic from his album The Ecstatic, which is one of the most slept-on albums of they.

The last two videos I will group together because of they are both from Young Money/Cash Money.  Young Money’s Bedrock is slowly becoming one of my favorite songs due to the Lloyd hook and the Nicki Minaj line “time to put this pussy on your sideburns.”  Need I say more????  The last video is from Birdman’s album Pricele$$ and features Lil Wayne and Drake.  Once again, Drake makes the song.  Damn am I becoming a Drake fan??????

Tomorrow I will be sharing my thoughts about Alicia Keys new album, The Element of Freedom.

Burrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Now I know what most people will think when they see a Gucci Mane feature on my site but as one of the “hottest” rappers of the year and his album getting ready to drop, I figured I would share a few thoughts about the album, The State Vs. Radric Davis.  First off, regardless of what I think about Gucci and his music, he RUNS the radio right now.  I rarely turn on the radio but when I do, I can be guaranteed to hear back to back to back to back to back Gucci songs.  So this man has made his mark on hip-hop/rap regardless of what anyone thinks.  Having said that, I also have let go of all rational thought about how or why Gucci Mane is running shit right now and take the music for what it is.  I know that seems kind of hypocritical especially after I trash Jay-Z and Drake but my standards and expectations for Gucci are a little different.  By the way, I like Drake, I hope Thank Me Later does well.  So, I stumbled across a copy of Gucci’s new album The State Vs. Radric Davis, which is the perfect title in light of his future jail time, and decided I would give it a fair, honest listen all the way through.  I did so this weekend and this morning.  After many conversations with my brother, who happens to really enjoy several songs on the album, I will say that Gucci’s entertainment value is pretty high.  I guess it would be like comparing boxing(although rigged) to WWE.  Comparing John Cena to Manny Pacquiao doesn’t make any sense, so me comparing Gucci Mane to Mos Def would be unfair.  I guess like any other listener, Gucci grows on you and it’s hard not to at least chuckle at some of his songs.  The only problem I have, and this isn’t Gucci’s fault, is that when someone turns on the radio or TV to hear or watch hip-hop music, artist’s like Gucci are all they hear.  Thus is where it becomes a problem.  That is a whole other discussion for another time but I will say this, listen to Lemonade, Kush Is My Cologne and my brother’s personal favorite Gingerbread Man.  I promise some laughs.  Make sure you turn up your bass loud too because the beats bang.  I think hearing just a few Gucci songs will give you the gist of what he’s about.  I also recommend listening to Worst Enemy because Gucci gets a little personal.  I never saw that one coming.   Here are a few of my favorites.

Apparently there is a video for Worst Enemy, check it out
