Adullessence presents.......

Artwork courtesy of Dakota Blue

Today is a BEAUTIFUL day in my neighborhood and in my home town Topeka, Kansas.   It is my esteemed pleasure to present to you, The League’s own Adullessence, Life in Surround Sound: Takeout Food, Pigeons and Trife.  We have been planning to officially release this project for a while now but it finally came together when Dakota Blue did the artwork.  I have been working with Les since summer of 05 and have witnessed his greatness countless times.  He is one of the reasons that I continue to do what I do.  He has been doing music for over a decade and seems to just get better with every verse, every hook and every song.  I watched dude record 4 joints last night via video chapple and was blown away.  His rapid fire flow and lyrical depth is RARELY seen and hardly to be perfected.  Les has perfected it.  He raps as easy as he talks.  It’s kind of scary actually.  I had the pleasure of picking beats, creating concepts and writing songs with Les for this project and it turned out to be a straight classic.  Recorded in spring of 2008, this is the first time Life in Surround Sound is presented to a broader audience and I look forward to people hearing it.  It is always cool catching people off guard with great music.  I think Sunday Drive came totally out of left field and people really seemed to embrace the music.  Life in Surround Sound is no different.  Download, listen, share and comment on Life in Surround Sound.  I promise you will not be disappointed.  The project features production from Alchemist, Ayatollah, Pete Rock and Freddie Joachim with guest appearances from ME, Stik Figa and Dre Dai.

Take Your Time

Pete Rock

“I watch time stand still I’m just one man”

It’s crazy how a song can give you the feeling of a certain time of day.  Some mornings I need music to give me a boost to jump start my day and other mornings I just need to zone out.  Today I took a trip back to 98/99 and through in Pete Rock’s Soul Survivor.  I can’t even remember the last time I listened to this album.  This whole record takes me back to my freshman/sophomore year, rolling around in Logan’s gold Honda.  I remember how dope Pete Rock’s beats are but I forgot how nice he was on the mic too.  Pete Rock was NICE.  Joints like Tru Master and Half Man Half Amazing show PR’s abilities to stand alongside Inspectah Deck, Kurupt and Method Man.  My favorite joint on this album and the perfect song to start my day is Take Your Time.  The whole vibe is incredible.  It’s one of those songs that I could play for anyone, regardless of age and I guarantee they could appreciate it.  I might email it to my grandma later.  I can just imagine my grandma bumping Pete Rock at her next bridge club get together.  How ill would that be?  I had to run this song back 3 times this morning and I will probably listen to it at least 4 more times today.  This is hip hop at it’s finest.  I haven’t even made it through half the tracks on the album because of this song.  I am kind of excited to listen to Verbal Murder and Strange Fruit.  So I welcome you all to kick back, zone out and enjoy some classic shit.  I had a hard time even finding this song on the internet.  What type of this is that?????
