Erykah Badu “Fall In Love(Your Funeral)
It’s been kind of a slow week around these parts. I was mainly rehearsing for my show this past Wednesday and getting my house cleaned and set up for new beginnings. Plus, I haven’t listened to much music other than Big K.R.I.T. and some reggae and dancehall. However, today I got a little surprise with a new video of an in-studio performance from Erykah Badu for her song, Fall In Love(Your Funeral). Once again, her most recent album, Return of the Ankh is incredible and you need to hear it. Fall In Love is one of my favorite songs on the album so, I was pleased to see a little visuals for it. Some amazing things are happening this week. First Damian Marley and Nas video “Patience” and now Erykah Badu drops her video for “Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long.” Her album, New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh dropped last year and was one of my favorite albums of the year, well shit, in the past several years too. I loved every song on it. The video is directed by Flying Lotus and is really cool. Check it out below and make sure you listen to her whole album. She is truly amazing.

This week has been a pretty big week in terms of releases in the world of hip hop and R&B. Erykah Badu, Usher, Wu-Tang and E-40 all dropped new records. I, myself, have only heard two of those 4 records but two are very solid projects. Ms. Badu hit the charts at number 4 with her new album, The New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh, moving 110K. “Ursher” came in at number 1 selling 330K, while Meth, Ghost and Rae sold 38K at number 12. I had NO idea how well the Wu was gonna do but I guess it’s alright. 3 of those copies are still wrapped at my house. I also bought 2 copies of Ms. Badu’s album, which happens to be my favorite album of the year so far. I can’t say I have heard much more than the radio singles for Usher new album but he seems to be doing pretty well. Little Freak featuring Nicki Minah is kind of hot. Stayed tuned until next week. April is certain to have some incredible releases. Little Brother’s album Leftback on the way.

“Classic Shit Alert”
I love saying that. As you recall, I posted Erykah Badu’s new video for Window Seat on Monday well, I listened to her new album, Return of the Ahkh, a couple times through and I have to say, it’s incredible. Window Seat is reason enough to listen to the whole album but Love, Get MuNNY, Gone Baby, Don’t Be Long and Fall in Love are unbelievable. The album reminds me a little of Mama’s Gun, which is my favorite Erykah Badu album. The vibe, the production, the lyrics, everything is just on point. On Get MuNNY, she remakes Junior Mafia’s Get Money. I honestly like her version even better. I can’t really say enough about how dope this album is. The last two songs are much slower and “spacier” but are still very dope as well. I am not only encouraging people to buy this album but I am insisting that everyone purchase a copy. I am getting mine today. Here is a taste of what Return of the Ankh is offering, Turn Me Away(Get MuNNY). Make sure you watch the video for Window Seat too. Ms. Badu is the BADDEST.

Back on my BS again, I mean, back on my Work ish again. To many’s surprise, for my morning drive, I forwent my typicaly does of hip hop and listened to Chicago’s number one station for hip hop and hits B96. I didn’t really hear any hip hop but I heard a whole lot of pop music including Lady Gaga and Pitbull. I’m not sure who starts their mornings that way but it was NOT fun. I think I made record time to work today. Thankfully, I had Erkyah Badu’s new video, Window Seat stuck in my head from yesterday. This video seems to be causing some controversy but I think it’s pretty cool. Ms. Badu always keeps it fresh though. Not to mention, her body is still BANGING. Shout out to Erykah Badu. If you don’t already have her new album, New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh, go get it now. In the meantime, check out Window Seat. Happy Monday.

I promised I would try to give everyone some more “substantial” music throughout this Gorrila Zoe Challenge, well here is a new joint, Window Seat from Erykah Badu from her album, New Amerykah Pt.2: Return of the Ankh which is supposed to drop March 30th.
