The “New” King of Pop

Kanye West

Man I bet this dude shops so much that he can speak Italian

I am sure you all have heard about Kanye’s recent comments about him being the “NEW” King of Pop since Michael Jackson has passed away but if not, here they are.

“You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It’s so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop and I’m willing to take that on. There’s nobody who can match me in sales and in respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael’s crown and become the new King.  First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century its Kanye’s time to rule. I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there’s nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop.”

Now, I know I’m country and from Kansas but Kanye is either one of the dumbest smart people on the planet or he says shit just to say it.  I won’t recap all of his comments but there have been a number of ocassions where Kon The Louis Vuitton Don makes himself look like a fool.  Let me say that I am and have been a fan of Kanye’s music up until 808′s but shit like this makes me want to break all of his cds and never listen to him again.  Of course I wouldn’t expect anyone else to say some shit like this except Kanye but damn.  Did he really just compare himself to Elvis and Michael Jackson.  It’s hilarious that he said “I am willing to take that on” like he is doing everyone a favor for filling Michael Jackson’s socks.  C’mon Yeezy, you got so many things going for you right now including a terrible, pop album littered with horrible lyrics and terrible singing, two shoe deals with Nike and Louis and a bad-ass, bald headed woman that is fucking everyone else in the industry, don’t you think it’s time to fall back and keep the 80′s here as long as you can.  Now I think I have to go listen to College Dropout to remind me that Kanye is capable of doing something well.  Honestly thought, I think he just says shit to make people talk.  It is a beautiful marketing/PR scheme but he needs to be careful about what he says because MJ is the GOAT.  I doubt people will ever be touring Kanye’s home like Graceland or Neverland Ranch.  I would not like to hear anything else from Kanye until Good Ass Job comes out.  Let’s get back to the program Yeezy.

Look at dude’s leopard pants.  Shout out to Sa-Ra

I Wanna Be Where You Are

Erykah Badu

I didn’t get a chance to see Erykah Badu perform with The Roots on Jimmy Fallon Friday but I know they killed it.  Check out the audio of the tribute they did to Michael Jackson.  Usually I don’t fuck with tribute songs but c’mon it’s The Roots and Erykah Badu.  They know what they are doing.  The video footage should be up tonight or tomorrow and I will definitely put that up soon.

The True Power

Michael Jackson

There isn’t a lot more that I can say that hasn’t already been said about Michael Jackson, his music and his legacy.  It is an absolute tragedy that the undisputed King of Pop, King of everything is dead.  His life will forever be shadowed by controversy and mystery but his reach and the power of his music is universal.  I can honestly say that I have NEVER seen a person’s life and death have so much affect on the world.  The immediate outburst of sadness and loss flooded every media outlet.  Twitter and Facebook were updated with NOTHING but shock and disbelief.  Even when Obama was elected, the amount of buzz did not match what it was yesterday, when the rumors and ultimately the confirmation of Michael Jackson’s death reached the internet.  This will undoubtedbly go down as one of the biggest moments in world history.  I know our society places too much weight and attention on entertainers and celebrities, portraying them as larger than life and sometimes mythical characters.  We often take the human out of celebrities and place them in such a light where we expect nothing but perfection.  With Michael Jackson, that persona and that label almost seemed fitting but not fair.  He grew up in the spotlight and never had a moment of his life that was not in the public eye.  He had to become a man with the entire world watching, all the while fighting his past and his own demons.  It is VERY sad.  I cannot imagine what his life was like on a day to day basis.  However, with all of the drama and controversy that surrounded Michael Jackson, especially in his later years, one thing that will go down in history and is a testiment to his legacy is the true power of his music.  Michael Jackson crossed so manny barriers that might never be crossed again.  From race to age, from language for culture, Michael Jackson touched nearly everyone person in the entire world with his music.  That is overwhelming to even think about.  His music transcended him as a person and brought common ground to people from the most different walks of life.  There isn’t a person in the world(maybe a few) that didn’t know who he was and that has not heard his music.  Often times cultural, language and racial barriers seem so difficult to cross that it is impossible to imagine having anything in common with large portions of the world.  I can honestly say that Michael Jackson is one of the commonalities.  He was absolutely adored for his music, as he should have been.  The world will never see another Michael Jackson and regardless of his life and the personal decisions that he made, he should(and will) be remembered for the part of his life that brought an entire world together, his music.  Michael Jackson is loved.  Michael Jackson is missed.  But Michael Jackson and his music will NEVER be forgotten.  That is the true power of music.  My thoughts, prayers and tears go out to his family, friends and the entire world because he touched nearly every human on this planet.  That is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!  RIP Michael Joseph Jackson.

ALRIGHT

*EDITED*

OKAY I’LL BELIEVE IT NOW. I STILL MAKE A VALID POINT, BUT MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD.  WELL, RIP.

In this day and age with the high speed of news travel, it is easy to get caught up in all of the reports.  Well, the King of Pop is not dead.  Sure he suffered cardiac arrest and the almighty TMZ reported from a source that he died.  I don’t believe too much of what TMZ says because all they do is stir the masses with there loose based reports.  I mean, does anybody remember some years ago when there was a report that his body was found at the Neverland Ranch and he was dead then?  That was based on an unnamed source too and it turned out to be false.  Just be careful with what you hear.  Anyways, CNN reported that he is now in a coma.  Which means he is alive and breathing.  Everybody relax and take a break.  Don’t be surprised if he dies pretty soon though because of all the stress he has been through his entire life.
