Sucak MCs Video Premier
This video has been a long time in the making. We started shooting back in May, lost all the footage and came up with some new concepts. We had to overcome several roadblocks while shooting including a dirty, dusty, wasp-infested garage, going blind from wearing Walgreen’s reading glasses for several hours and mixing the worst combinations of food and beverages imaginable. All for artistic expression I guess. Sucka MCs features appearances by Phys Edison, Tori Boyd and Jackie Ferrer. The video was shot, directed and edited by Tori Boyd. Sucka MCs is the fourth and final video from Sunday Drive. The Itunes version of Sunday Drive will be available for purchase very soon.
Double Barrel
Damn, another Monday already??? I got an update from my session with Phys Edison on Friday. We recorded 3 new tracks for our album, Paid Time Off and they are sounding really, really dope. I’m super anxious to get this project completed and out there. We have another session this coming Saturday to record a couple more joints. Stay tuned for updates on PTO in the next several months. Today I decided to an album that has been sitting on my computer for a while but I never gave it a listen. I have heard a fair amount of good things about Torae and Marco Polo’s Double Barrel album, so in typical Mike Schpitz fashion, my listen comes a little late. The album is really solid. Torae is a very capable emcee who goes hard and keeps it fresh, rhyme after rhyme and Marco Polo provides really dope beats. More importantly, the album sounds like an album. It is cohesive and all the songs make sense on the album. The guest appearances fit with the flow of the album too. I think it is definitely a solid project that is slept-on but will definitely continue making it’s rounds the old fashion way, word of mouth. My favorite joint is Wordplay. I think this is where Torae is at his best with the most creative rhymes. I definitely suggest listening to Double Barrel. I’m not sure if anyone else feels it but real rap, real albums and real lyrics are coming back. Shout out to both Torae and Marco Polo. I look forward to hearing more material from both cats. Check out Wordplay
The What
Happy Fridy to all. I decided to listen to some guaranteed classic hip hop today from one of greatest to touch the mike, Biggie Smalls. Some days, I just need some guaranteed fire to match the vibe so I put in Ready To Die. I think we already know that every track is the shit but my personal favorite is The What with Method Man. This is one of my favorite joints of all time. The combination of both cats is perfect. The beat is perfect. The What is just a perfect song. I think it definitely matches the Friday vibe. Enjoy two of hip hop’s illest.
I also just wanted to share a quick update with you. Me and Phys Ed have our first official studio session tonight to record the first two joints for our next album, Paid Time Off. Trust me, it will be more classic shit.
Sucka MCs Remix featuring Tona and Adullessence
Today is another big day for me as I drop the 2nd remix from Sunday Drive featuring The League of Ordinary Gentlemen. This time, Tona and Adullessence join me on the remix for the Tribe remake, Sucka MCs. Both The Get Up Remix and Sucka MCs are important songs for me because they are the first songs that I have released featuring a crew of cats that I work with and know on a personal basis. It is also important for my hometown to show how far the music has reached and the quality of people that I have been blessed to work with and know. Everyone knows that Adullessence and I have been working together since 06, so it is also important for me to get Les, Add-2 and Tona on the same songs as well. I hope everyone enjoys the Sucka MCs Remix and stays tuned for the Itunes version of Sunday Drive. I have put it on Tunecore and it said Sunday Drive will go live by November 8th. I thought that I could pick the date but apparently not. Oh well. Also, in two weeks, I am releasing the video for Sucka MCs directed by Tori Boyd with a cameo from Phys Ed and Tori. I look forward to hearing everyone’s feedback.

Mike Schpitz Feature/Interview on Get Laced Out
I got an email yesterday from my guy at Get Laced Out letting me know that he had posted a feature/interview with me. Check out the interview and the feature and share your comments on the site.
Here is a portion of the interview.
3.What do you think is the missing link in hip hop now?
I don’t really think there is a missing link in hip hop. I think as long as there are artists who strive to put out quality music, hip hop will exist regardless of the trends and fads. You have so many artists that came up on classic artists and classic material, so I think that that alone drives people like myself to continually develop their craft. Hip hop has gotten watered down due to the disposable climate of the music and the focus on the business side of things but for every Plies there is an artist like Elzhi that focuses more on the lyrics and the skill that it takes to be an emcee. Cats like Blu, Slaughterhouse, Outkast, Mos Def and Little Brother keep things fresh and balanced however, it is a shame that a lot of the most talented emcees will never receive the type of attention they deserve. But like I said, there are always going to be quality artists that make music for the love and strive to create something different and fresh, they just might fly under the radar. It goes in trends though, I think that artists like Mos Def will see radio play and video play on tv when it becomes more popular again like in the late 90s.
Shout out to Get Laced Out for the feature and the interview.
