Frostwire and Frostclick present Mike Schpitz “Spring Cleaning”

I know it seems like I just dropped my mixtape, The Prize Package Volume 1 but I got the opportunity to link with Frostwire and Frostclick to do an exclusive mixtape for their site and their torrent downloading program. If you recall, back in 2009, Frostwire and Frostclick featured my debut album, Sunday Drive and it received A LOT of love and over 81,000 downloads. So, when they asked me about doing an exclusive project, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity and had to show the love back. This time, I put together a mixtape called Spring Cleaning, which features 19 tracks of old and new material from each of my projects since Sunday Drive. I have songs from Love Potion Number 9th, Mike Murder, Stanley Ipkiss, The Prize Package Volume 1, Sunday Skool with Pete Sayke and Have You Seen My Stapler? with SLOT-A. It is basically a history lesson about my music and has some new, unheard stuff. Spring Cleaning went live yesterday so, go over to Frostwire and Frostclick to download it. The link is below as well as the track list and a snippet of the post on Frostclick.com

Mike Schpitz presents The Rain Music Video

Today is another special day in Mike Schpitz history, I am officially releasing my 5th music video for my joint, The Rain which is featured on my mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover.  Love Potion has 16 tracks with all the beats borrowed from 9th Wonder.  The video was shot, edited and directed by Tori Boyd, who has also done Sit on the Moon, New World, Sucka MCs and Add-2′s video Starter Jacket.  The video is a tribute to my cousin, John Mills Neiswanger who recently passed away.  The Rain showcases some of Chicago’s urban scenery.  I look forward to hearing what everyone thinks.  This is perhaps the most important video to date, so please share your thoughts, comments and feedback.  Make sure you download the whole mixtape as well below.

Today is a very, very, very special day for me.  I have linked with FlawlessHustle.com, RefinedHype.com and Chicago sneaker boutique, AKIN to release my new/old mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover.   Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover’ is an A side B side tape inspired by, with all beats borrowed from 9th Wonder. The A side is 8 songs that were released back in 2007 as a part of the original “Love Potion Number 9th”.  After receiving lots of positive feedback, the B Side, “The Hangover” was recorded. Spanning from early 2008 to the summer of 2009, “The Hangover” is the result of releasing and gaining support from the original. After promoting the debut album “Sunday Drive”, “Love Potion” started receiving even more positive feedback and interest, so “The Hangover” portion, which was previously unreleased, was added to complete the tape. In honor of 9th Wonder’s contribution to the project as well as serving as one of the primary influences, David Hildreth created the cover and Heath O’Campo designed the layout. “Love Potion Number 9th” features The Only Ones Crew, which consisted of Adullessence, Mike Schpitz aka LoveJones, Large Marge and Stik Figa.  If anyone can get this project to 9th Wonder, there is a handsome reward in it for you. Shout out to the whole Topeka, Kansas aka Paradise City aka Top City for your continued support.  Here is the track list and download link.  Please download, listen and share with tape.  Just spread the word.  I look forward to hearing everyone’s feedback and comments.

The Rain and Hatin’ Again featuring Adullessence and Stik Figa

FLYER

As promised, here are my two new joints off of my mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover which drops Wednesday, November 18th.  The first leak is a song from the B Side: The Hangover called The Rain.  The Rain is a joint I wrote and recorded back in early 2008 but has never seen the light of day.  This is one of my favorite 9th Wonder beats that I have ever heard.  It is just one of those tracks that really hits the heart(for me at least).  My second leak is a track from the original Love Potion called Hatin’ Again featuring Adullessence and Stik Figa.  This was maybe my favorite joint on the original Love Potion as well.  Another one of my favorite 9th Wonder/Little Brother joints.  I also wanted to show people the artwork and the track listing today so they could get a taste of what I am offering on this tape.  The cover will look familiar with an added touch by Heath O’Campo.  The cover was done by David Hildreth who absolutely KILLED it.  You can check him out at www.davidhildreth.net.  Heath O’Campo also did the track list and matched the cover perfectly.  Check Heath out at www.heathocampo.com

Memories Live

Reflection

I don’t know about ya’ll but yesterday was a damn good day.  For me, the promotion of my mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover began, I got some new flannel sheets for my bed AND the 2009-2010 NBA season officially tipped off with the Cavs vs Celtics and the Lakers vs Clippers.  Cavs lost and Lakers won.  Tonight there are two more games on ESPN, Hornets vs Spurs and Jazz vs Nuggets.  Make sure you tune in.  This morning I was feeling rather “reflective” so I put in one of my favorite albums of all time, Train of Thought from Reflection Eternal.  This album needs no description and validation from me but I found myself zoing out to Memories Live.  Kweli’s lyrics on this joint are PERFECT.  The whole song is just amazing.  It gives me goosebumps for real.  I thought I was gonna be stopped at a traffic light and just start crying. LOL smiley face(shout out to Trey Songz).  Memories Live is one of the songs that I would play for a person who absolutely hated rap and I am willing to bet that their opinion might sway slightly.  Shout out to Kweli and Hi Tek for making incredible music.  I hope they drop that album in 2010.

Damn, I’m really fucking up this morning.  I already sent my emails, posted on twitter, facebook and myspace before I posted my brand new joints on my own damn site.  Forgive me please.  It is with great pleasure that I present to you, the first two leaks from my 9th Wonder produced mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover.  The mixtape is sponsored by FlawlessHustle.com, Chicago sneaker boutique AKIN and hosted by RefinedHype.com.  The Hangover features 16 songs as an A side/B side mixtape.  The first 8 tracks are from the original Love Potion Number 9th which was released back in December of 2007.  Those tracks also feature The Only Ones Crew/League of Ordinary Gentlemen members, Adullessence, Large Marge and Stik Figa.  The last 8 tracks are songs that were recorded after the original was released.  These 8 tracks are The Hangover portion of the mixtape.  All tracks are produced and borrowed from 9th Wonder.  The first leak is Blow It Out which is from The Hangover side.  It is an ode to two of my best friends as well as the average “nine to fiver” who struggles with his/her situation and positioning in life.  The second track, Let It Go is from the Love Potion portion and features Adullessence, Large Marge and Stik Figa.  Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover is scheduled to be released on November 17th via FlawlessHustle.com, MikeSchpitz.com and hosted by RefinedHype.com.  The mixtape release party/listening session is on November 14th at AKIN(1313 S Halsted).  The first 100 people in attendance get a physical, advanced copy of Love Potion.  Download Blow It Out and Let It Go.

The Specials

Happy Monday to all.  This weekend was a great weekend in Chicago.  I saw Blue Man Group at the Briar Street Theatre on Saturday evening with my mom.  We had to wear ponchos so we didn’t get regurgitated twinkie all over us.  It was a great show, very entertaining.  Last week was busy with leaks from the Flawless Hustle mixtape, Money Isn’t Real.  If  you haven’t already downloaded it, make sure you get it.  Tomorrow, I will begin promoting m 9th Wonder produced mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover.  I will be dropping my first two singles, Blow It Out and Let It Got featuring Adullessence, Large Marge and Stik Figa.  Love Potion: The Hangover is sponsored by FlawlessHustle.com, AKIN and RedefinedHype.com.  I look forward to hearing what everyone thinks.  Last night, I decided to start the week in a different direction with my musical selection.  Today’s album is from the ska band, The Specials.  My brother has been listening to them for a long time and recommened recently that I check out their Singles Collection.  I put it in this morning and it immediately started bringing back memories from my 1st childhood.  I remember my brother listening to most of these songs.  The Singles Collection is definitely a great way to start the week, especially on a gloomy Monday morning.  Here are a few songs from The Specials including Gunz of Navarone which Karindal Offishall sampled for his joint, See The Fire from Kill Bloodclot Bill.  Enjoy.

To wrap up the week, here is my third and final leak, Money Talks produced by THX.  For anyone unfamiliar with THX, he produced my joint Fit Right which was part of the UrSession.com and Wake Up Show’s 100K Battle.  THX also produced Don’t Stop from Snoop Dogg’s Blue Carpet Treatment.  He is also working with Busta Rhymes and The Clipse shouted him out in a video.  Definitely expected BIG things from THX in the near future.  He is a real cool cat that blessed me with this joint.  If you haven’t already download Flawless Hustle’s mixtape, Money Isn’t Real, make sure you get that.  All three leaks this week are featured exclusively on Money Isn’t Real.  Happy Friday to all and enjoy the new music.
