Kanye West “Dark Fantasy” produced by Rza and No I.D.

I won’t make a habit of posting every Kanye leak but this beat is sick and Kanye does what he should be doing.  Hopefully the new album will sound more like this shit.  Shout out to Rza and No I.D. on the track.  I gotta give props to Kanye for the way he is building up the buzz for this album and with all the leaks and videos.  I might actually buy the album.

Kanye West “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”

By now, I am sure you have heard at least SOMETHING about Kanye’s new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.  Well there has been some “Kan”troversy surround one of the covers for the album.  Apparently one of the images was banned.  I’m not sure WHO actually banned the cover but Kanye seems to be taking it well.  The controversy is probably a great thing for Kanye though.  I am sure more people will be curious about the album, the new covers and all the music and videos for the album due to the banned cover.  Props to Kanye for creating this environment with the leaks, the short film and the cover art.  Even if you don’t like the music or understand the odd videos and outfits, you got to respect his “marketing” for the album.  Check out the banned cover below, cover version two and the track list for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.  I also included some of the songs that are supposed to be featured on the album so you can hear just what Kanye’s album is sounding like.  Happy Monday.

Kanye West “Runaway” Short Film and Music Video

Kanye West has been causing a lot of chatter with his new album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.  He took to the internet and has been releasing new music every Friday, which he now dubs, G.O.O.D. Music Friday’s.  With all the leaks and now the release of his short film, Runaway, Kanye is set to takeover for the latter part of 2010 and 2011.  I haven’t been posting every leak and news bit about his album but I have been keeping up pretty well.  Last week, he dropped the music video for Runaway, which is a clip from his short film Runaway.  I’ll let you guys be the judge of the oddities which is becoming of this new album, including the title.  I wish he would have stuck to the theme of his previous albums and just dropped Good Ass Job but apparently Kanye is going in a different direction.  Regardless, let’s hope that My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy isn’t another step into weirdness and he just delivers with some G.O.O.D. Ass Music.  Check out Kanye’s short film for Runaway and the shortened video for Runaway.  I’ll post some cover art and track list for the album later too.

G.O.O.D. Ass Mixtape

Don’t let the title fool you.  Although Kanye and his music imprint, G.O.O.D. Music released a mixtape called G.O.O.D Ass Mixtape, the mixtape is not quite that.  I don’t know if Kanye or the G.O.O.D. Music family really have anything to do with this mixtape but this tape will be getting no further burn in my tape deck.  If you ask me, 29 tracks of snippets of songs, never really work out.  One of the problems with mixtapes is the volume of material and the shortened versions of songs that don’t really transition into each other.  There wasn’t enough Common and Kanye on this tape to hold my attention and the remixes Perajok put together were horrible.  I’m not sure if he listened to the rappers vocals over the beats but they were so poorly timed, man.  I don’t know what else to say.  Although I like Fonzworth as a personality, I can definitely do without him rapping.  I’m hoping that when G.O.O.D. Music actually puts out their own project, it will be GOOD but I’m not blaming this tape on Kanye and his people.  I think Big Boi said it best, “Yo DJ ain’t no DJ, he just make them fuckin mixtapes.”

W.ants W.orld W.omen

I wanted to give everyone a taste of something a little different today.  The J Dilla and SV affiliate, Dwele, dropped his new album, W.ants W.orld W.omen, on Tuesday and I have listened a couple times.  I was first introduced to Dwele back in high school when he opened for Slum Village at The Granada in Lawrence, Kansas.  It was kind of crazy because no one really knew who he was.  I had this song called “Too Fly” that I still love to this day.  Anyway, his new album sounds pretty good.  I’m not a huge Dwele fan but I like some of his stuff for sure.  I really like a lot of the production on his new album.  Slum Village makes a nice features as done David Banner and DJ Quik.  It’s a nice change of pace from the onslaught of hip hop that I have been listening too.  I definitely think it’s worth a few listens.  Dwele is also featured on Kanye’s new single, Power.  Dwele is looking like Kanye’s go to guy for singles.  Flashing Lights and now Power.  Very cool.

The Blueprint

I know I have probabley been dubbed a “Jay Hater” by now but I want to let everyone know that I FUCKS WITH JAY.  I just hold him to a very high standard after Reasonable Doubt, The Blueprint and The Black Album.  Jay has “The Blueprint” of a rap career in terms of success, longevity, credibility and albums.  His career is what every rapper hopes to have when they pick up a mike.  His Kanye and Just Blaze produced album(with help from Timbaland, Trackmasters and others, The Blueprint is a shining example of Jay’s skills.  This album is the reason why I became a fan.  I was snoozing on Jay for a long while until I saw his Unplugged with The Roots, then checked The Blueprint and I became a fan.  I feel like this is the album that solified Jay in everyone hip hopper’s heart from backpacker to mainstream.  The production is really dope, the beef with Nas was one of hip hop’s most notorious and Jay shows he can spit with the best of Em, even though Em did serve him on his own song.  Renegade is really an Eminem song if you ask me.  Check the Royce Da 5’9″ version.  Anyway, one of these weeks or two, I am going to listen to all of Jay’s albums in chronological order, similiar to the Gorilla Zoe challenge but a lot less painful.  Happy Friday to all and enjoy some classic shit from rap’s biggest and most consistent superstar, the god emcee, Jay-Z.

And Em and Royce’s version of Renegades

Power

It was only right to post a Kanye and Amber picture especially with the release of the new Kanye jam, Power.  Kanye CLEARLY has too much power when he starts singing in autotune, rockin sweet haircuts and dating females like her but after hearing his new joint, Power, he is forgiven.  Not only is he forgiven, if he was here right now, I would give him a big high five because Power is CRAZY.  His new album, Good Ass Job should hit stores later this year and I promise it will be crazy.  DJ Premier, Pete Rock and Rza are all rumored to be working on it.  Sounds like Kanye took my advice and went back to making that real hip hop shit.  Anyway, this is an incredible return for Yeezy and I must say, I feel like a proud dad.  Check out Power below.  Good shit Ye.

Gorilla Zoe Challenge: Day Eleven

I have to apologize for the super late post of the day.  It’s been a hectic day but just to reassure everyone, I am STILL on the GZC.  Today, I went back and caught mixtape number 17, Gorilla Woods Part 2 and jumped forward to mixtape 20, Cartunez.  For whatever reason, number 18 is nowhere to be found.  I guess that means it was too bad to continue to promote it.  Anyway, the end is approaching ever so rapidly.  I have to comment on a trend I have been noticing in rap lately and in particular Gorilla Zoe does it A LOT throughout these tapes.  Rappers have been comparing themselves to shit lately.  Kanye has said things like “How it feels to wake up to be the shit and the urine.” Lil Wayne frequently uses inappropriate bathroom chat as well.  However, Gorilla Zoe has taken it to a new level by saying things like “I doo doo and boo boo and poo poo.”  I’m not sure why this trend continues but I must urge rappers to find more clever ways of saying they are the shit rather than comparing themselves to ACTUALL shit.  Well, enjoy both tapes and trust there will be some classic material coming very soon.  Stay tuned.

The cover work is still kind of hilarious though.

Look What I Got

Classic Shit Fridays is moving right along, this time with one of the illest dudes from Atlanta, T.I.  I took a back to his 2nd album, Trap Muzik, which most people probably consider a certified classic.  T.I. really gets doper every time I hear him.  Dude is SUPER underrated in terms of lyrical abilities.  Trap Muzik is really dope because it’s before the whole nation and the pop world really got a hold of T.I.’s music.  He is still pretty underground as far as not catering to mainstream radio.  Trap Muzik has two joints produced by Kanye before he was Kanye, which is refreshing to hear as well.  He has the anthems that he is known for as well.  It’s just a reall well done album.  Today, I’m really feeling Look What I Got.  It’s one of the joints where, even if your rolling a 99 Civic or and 88 Corolla, you feel like your shit is on 24′s and your pockets are fatter than (insert a hefty person’s name here).  I want to make sure that all of you underground heads listen to Trap Muzik because T.I. can rap better than most of your favorite underground emcees.  If your worried about content, listen to Doin’ My Job produced by Kanye West.  I want to wish everyone a Happy Fly/Flannel Friday.  Me and Phys Edison are hitting the studio this evening to work on Paid Time Off.  Me and SLOT-A are in the studio Saturday working on Have You Seen My Stapler??  Also, I am dropping two remixes next Wednesday, so stay tuned.

Popular Demand

There has been a slew of videos hitting the net in anticipation for one of the most hyped albums of the year, The Clipse Til The Casket Drops and yesterday the video for my favorite leak from the album, Popular Demand featuring Cam’ron came out.  So what I figured I would do is post all 5 video leaks thus far with their new video for Popular Demand at the top because this joint is truly my theme song of the year.  Ya’ll better go out and BUY Til The Casket Drops.  I don’t wanna see anything less than 80K first week numbers or I will personally be insulted.

When is the last time you have see 5 videos drop before an artist’s album????????  The Clipse are going very, very hard and I love it.  I hope they do videos for everyone song.
