A lot of new albums to the charts this week including Faith Evans, Pimp C and Skyzoo and !llmind.  Lil Wayne moved another 23K with his garbage ass EP.  I haven’t listened to Skyzoo and !llmind’s album but I heard that it’s sick.  I wonder if Gucci’s appeal is fading or is 80,000 in two weeks considered good numbers for Sccucccci?  Until next time……..

Weekly Sales 10/7/10

The biggest news this past week in album sales was Lil Wayne’s new EP called I Am Not A Human being.  With Wayne being in Jail and this record having minimal promotion, I am sure people were curious as to what numbers he might move.  Well Wayne hit the charts at number 2 selling 110,000 copies in his first week.  I am not sure if this is considered a success or failure by Wayne and his record label but for no promotion and the album SUCKING balls, I think it is pretty good for Wayne.  Another release that seemed to go under the radar was Gucci Mane’s new album with a single, Gucci Time with Swizz Beatz that hasn’t seem to catch much steam.  Gucci landed at number 4 selling 60,000.  Check the top

A few other releases hit the charts this week in the forms of Lil Boosie and Ice Cube.  I haven’t heard either album so, I can’t really share comments on either but I guess 30K for Boosie is pretty good.  Ice Cube didn’t really seem to have an impact at all.  Oh well, until next week…..

Weekly Numbers 4/21/10

Sorry for the day-late update.  The numbers from last week’s sale are in and the usual suspects are still sitting up top.  New to the charts this week is the group, MGMT.  Not sure if yall are familiar with them but they are on Kid Cudi’s album and had a song Electic Feel that was pretty big.  Ursher, Monica, Sade and Luda are still “chillin” in the top spots.  Check.

Another week is upon us and the numbers are in.  As always, shout out to HipHopDx for keeping a player current in this wonderful world of sales figures.  Not much has changed since last week, Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige stay on top.  Black Eyed Peas are still moving more units per week than most artists period.  And Young Money and Rihanna sold just over 25K.  Here are the top steppers

Weekly Numbers 1/6/2009

The weekly numbers are in thanks to HipHopDx.  There isn’t really any exciting news or surprises.  Black Eyed Peas and Eminem still continue to move units while Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige are still holding on up top.  Young Money is doing alrigh too but I wonder if they are disappointed especially with the hype surround Wayne, Nicki Minaj and Drake? Check out the top.

Weekly Numbers 12/16/2009

I almost forgot to comment on the weekly numbers today.  Today is the end one of the biggest weeks of the year for hip hop because the Clipse dropped their 3rd album, Til The Casket Drops.  People were estimating that the Clipse were only going to move a measly 30K in their first week.  Well, those numbers were correct.  Clipse dropped one of the best albums of the year but only managed to sell just over 30K.  I don’t know WTF is wrong with people because they also dropped 3 of the best songs of the year before the album even dropped.  Another “shocker” to some might be Gucci Mane’s numbers.  He moved 90K in his first week, which if you ask me is terrible considering he RUNS the radio.  If labels haven’t been scrambling, they should be now.  Hits don’t mean record sales unless your Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Eminem or Lil Wayne.  It’s a sad day for real.  Regardless, I still encourage everyone to go out and BUY Clipse album because it is worth the money.  Gucci’s on the other hand, maybe just google The State Vs. Radric Davis mediafire.  That should do.  Chris Brown pulled in Rihanna numbers with just over 100K, Snoop moved just under 60K and Timbaland FAILED with 40K.  Check the top.

Video Mash Up

I wanted to do something a little different today besides my typical daily soundtrack.  A lot of dope videos have dropped in the past week so I wanted to share some of my favorites.  A few might catch everyone offguard but I like some radio shit just as much as the next man even though I hate pretty hard at times.  Drake even make a couple appearances on my list today.  The first video is from Drake and Timbaland for their song Say Something.  I love this joint and Drake once again solidifies his spot.  It’s hard to hate this man right now but I’m sure I can find something.

The second video is Cannon, whichi is of my favorite joints from Cory Gunz mixtape, Heir to the Throne.  Despite Cory looking a little uncomfortable handling guns, the song is really dope and its cool to see a video for it too.

The third video is for Gucci Mane’s song Lemonade. This video kind of makes my eyes hurt with all this bright ass yellow.  This song is a little too addictive.  It’s good to see Waka Flocka Flame in the video too.

The fourth video is for Mos Def’s joint Supermagic from his album The Ecstatic, which is one of the most slept-on albums of they.

The last two videos I will group together because of they are both from Young Money/Cash Money.  Young Money’s Bedrock is slowly becoming one of my favorite songs due to the Lloyd hook and the Nicki Minaj line “time to put this pussy on your sideburns.”  Need I say more????  The last video is from Birdman’s album Pricele$$ and features Lil Wayne and Drake.  Once again, Drake makes the song.  Damn am I becoming a Drake fan??????

Tomorrow I will be sharing my thoughts about Alicia Keys new album, The Element of Freedom.

Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem Cypher at BET Hip Hop Awards

I feel like Katt Williams, “This shit right HERE!!!!!!!!!!!” I only watched a couple performances from the BET Hip Hop Awards last night and unfortunately Gucci Mane was 3 of them but I did get to see Goodie Mob tear shit up.  I heard about the cypher with Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem and I just now watched and listened and (my jaw is on the ground).  I just want to let some people know that, if you rap/emcee and you are any where content with your skills and abilities on the mike, unless your Elzhi or Pharoahe Monch or one of these three guys, you NEED to work harder.  This shit is amazing.  Props to BET giving a little bit of shine to some of the games greatest and for the Goodie Mob performance.  With that said, I am going to retract those props to BET for letting Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane and Shawty Lo perform Gucci Bandana.

I am going to watch the rest of the cyphers now.  I heard Budden spazzes too.
