SLOT-A “Time Capsule 2011″

My good friend/frequent collaborator, SLOT-A, release a project a couple weeks ago to recap his year, 2011, in music.  SLOT worked with A LOT of different artists with the likes of Add-2, Neak, Scheme, K. Sparks, Ghostwridah and of course, Mike Schpitz and Pete Sayke aka Grumpy Old Men.  Time Capsule features 13 tracks, all produced by SLOT-A.  Here is a little more about the project from SLOT, himself, as well as the track list.

2011 is the year, Producer & DJ, Slot-A, has struck out on his own. Releasing his own projects (Foundation Beat Tape) as well as being apart of some of the most talked about projects of the year. “Time Capsule 2011,” is no different. Fresh off, “Life That I Chose EP” with Molemen Records recording artist, Scheme. Slot-A, gives you some of his favorite records he’s produced and remixed this year. Neak’s “Ready To Go,” “For My Ex” by GhostWridah to Gerald Walker’s “Merry Good Christmas,” are just a few note worthy records on this project.

Time Capsule 2011, plays through smoothly and seamlessly – not just a group of records thrown together. Listen all the way through to hear voice mails over Slot’s instrumentals from the homie’s Jamall Bufford (formerly known as Buff-1 of Athletic Mic Leauge), DJ K-Maxx (WHPK – University of Chicago CTA Radio)& Add-2 sharing memories of yesteryear’s experiences. Tediously placing records to create an album like feeling from beginning to end.

Wanting to remember, 2011, for all of it’s experiences and memories. From Djing for Prob Cause, Gerald Walker & Neak Undefined – To being apart of projects like, :”Ill Raps” with Neak Undefined, “American Alien” by Ghost Wridah & “On Your Side” By Gerald Walker & more. Time Capsule 2011 gives you more than records – it creates an audio experience. Giving you great records as much as it is tells the story.

Grumpy Old Men “America” Official Music Video

Hopefully everyone knows about and has listened to me and Pete Sayke’s debut album, Sunday Skool.  The feedback has been awesome so, hopefully the word continues to spread.  To help with the promo, Pete Sayke and myself just released the first visuals to accompany the album.  Just like the first leak, America is the first video from Sunday Skool.  It was shot and directed by Schedule One and Co.  DJBooth.net just premiered the video today and it should be hitting the rest of the net here soon.  We appreciate any and all feedback so, without further ado, Grumpy Old Men present America.  Shout out to my dude Ta-Ku on the beat!

Grumpy Old Men “Sunday Skool”

It’s been a year in the making but finally, Sunday Skool is here.  In case this is your first time visiting, Sunday Skool is the debut album from myself and Pete Sayke, collectively known as Grumpy Old Men.  Sunday Skool is 13 tracks(2 bonus) featuring artists like Scheme, Neak, Dre Dai, Sin Castle and LONEgevity.  We also have some incredible production on the album from Maja 7th, Wes P, Ill Brown, LONEgevity, Ta-Ku and Rob Bates.  I know most sites will post this as a mixtape but trust, this is an album.  Everything about the album has been planned out from concept, to production to album structure.  We are releasing it free but expect an album, not a mixtape.  Sunday Skool also has some awesome artwork courtesy of my guy, Heath O’Campo, who has been responsible for most of my projects.  Ill Brown, who produced 2 records, also did all the mixing.  Shout out to everyone who has been a part of the project and please listen, download and share.  Sunday Skool is exclusively available on LiveMixtapes and is sponsored by LiveMixtapes, YNotMyDream.net and BringingDownTheBand.com.  Right now there is an important piece of the album missing from the file but we are working to get that fixed and regardless, you will get that as well.

Mike Schpitz Interview with Block Starz

And the interviews keep rolling in.  I caught up with my guys at Block Starz Music yesterday for a quick interview/update about what has been going on since we dropped Stanley Ipkiss.  Also read about how fatherhood has been going!  Check out a little bit of the interview below and the rest over at BlockStarzMusic.com and make sure you go pick up that Stanley Ipkiss: Year of the Nice Guy on iTunes or Amazon.

What projects have you worked on since dropping your Block Starz Music debut “Stanley Ipkiss: Year of the Nice Guy”?

I have been working a lot since “Stanley Ipkiss”. First and foremost, me and my guy, who also emcees, Pete Sayke just formed a group called Grumpy Old Men and we are getting ready to release our debut album, as a group, called “Sunday Skool” on November 8th. We worked with a lot of different producers and artists on the project. Production wise, we have Wes P, Maja 7th, Ill Brown, LONEgevity, SLOT-A, Ta-Ku and Rob Bates. For features we have, SLOT-A, Dre Dai, Scheme, Neak, Sin Castle and LONEgevity. We’re both super excited about this album! We teamed up with LiveMixtapes.com, YNotMyDream.net and BringingDownTheBand.com. A few weeks back Pete Sayke and I performed in Atlanta at the A3C Hip Hop Festival alongside a ton of other artists. We recently had “The Wake” featured on LiveMixtapes and DJ Scream’s “The Battle” mixtape in support of “Battlefield 3″.

Other than that, I’m still doing solo stuff. Finishing up “Paid Time Off” with Phys Edison and of course “Have You Seen My Stapler” with SLOT-A. “Paid Time Off” we just have to finishing mixing stuff. “Stapler” we have one or two more joints were going to do then just getting the whole album mixed. Other than that, I’m always recording. Me and Pete have probably 20 other songs recorded that are either mixtape records or just didn’t make the album. A lot of different stuff of course.
