Gorilla Zoe Challenge: Day Four

The first week of the Gorilla Zoe Challenge is officially over.  I am rounding out the week with the 7th and 8th mixtapes, ZoeBama For President and You Don’t Mess With The Zohan.  I don’t have a lot to say because it’s much more of the same.  Clearly it’s all starting to run together at this point.  I can’t imagine what the 27th and 28th mixtapes are going to sound like.  There is an entertaining song on ZoeBama called Suck It.  I find any song about getting head quite entertaining.  I suggest at least listening to Suck It.  I hope everyone is as still committed to the cause as I am.  I don’t want to be in this alone.  Check out ZoeBama and Zohan here.

I can’t lie, the titles of these mixtapes are funny and the cover art seals the deal.  I kind of want to own physical copies of all 28.

Gorilla Zoe Challenge: Day Three

I know I skipped a day in the Gorilla Zoe Challenge on my site BUT I can assure you, I never stopped listening to Zoe.  Yesterday I completed the 5th and 6th mixtapes, Corporate Trappin ATM and Planet of the Apes.  Fortunately, some of the songs have popped up on a few different mixtapes so those get the SKIP button.  Things are not looking good for the next 22 days though.  There is still a lot of singing in autotune and of course drug and trap talk so at least Zoe is not straying for the formula.  Today I am moving on to the 7th and 8th ones to round out the week.  If you haven’t already started the Gorilla Zoe Challenge, do it now!!!!  Here is Corporate Trappin ATM and Planet of the Apes.

Gorilla Zoe Challenge: Day Two

It’s day two of the Gorilla Zoe Challenge and mother nature is NOT being kind on me.  In addition to forcing myself to listen to 28 mixtapes from Gorilla Zoe, it is snowing like a beatrice in Chicago.  I guess I shouldn’t complain because the east coast got BLASTED.  Yesterday and today’s installments are the third and fourth in the series, Zoe Montana and Gorilla Woods.  Shout out to Tiger Woods by the way, not for his scandalous, male whoring but in hopes that he returns to the PGA for The Master’s and abuses everyone.  Both of these tapes find Zoe using A LOT of autotune and singing to women.  Thankfully both these tapes were shorter than the first one or else I would purposely run my car in to the front of Walgreens by day five.  There is a song on Zoe Montana called Lickr that has quite possible the dumbest hook ever.  I HIGHLY encourage everyone to listen to it.  The quality of the music so far seems to be decreasing with each mixtape, so I am guessing by mixtape 28, Zoe will not even be rapping, he will just be talking nonsense over each beat.  Hopefully he is saving the best for last.  I must say though, the cover artwork is kind of funny.  Anyway, here are the 3rd and 4th tapes, Zoe Montana and Gorilla Woods.  Gorilla Zoe even claims he is responsible for Tiger getting caught up.  Really classy Zoe.

Gorilla Zoe Challenge: Day One

If you have been reading my site for any amount of time, you will quickly realize that I talk A LOT of shit.  Most of it is backed up, with what I feel is “truth, fact or educated opinion” but I figured this time I would get off my high horse and sacrifice my time, ears and taste in order to be more open to all types of “hip hop.”  In an effort to do so, I took the Disposable Arts post to heart, and myself, along with a few comrades, are going to listen to ALL 28 of Gorilla Zoe’s mixtapes.  I figured that it couldn’t hurt to devote an entire month of my life to an artist who I care nothing about right????  I started listening on Saturday and so far, I am 2 and a half mixtapes in.  I listen to the LONG Crack Addiction first.  Honestly, it was horrible but not as bad as I anticipated.  The next mixtape was Diamonds, Dope and Dimez and it was atrocious.  A LOT of autotune on it.  The third one, Zoe Montana, although I’m not finished, is shaping up to be the worst one yet.  I will give my full report tomorrow.  So, I am going to apologize ahead of time for featuring all 28 Gorilla Zoe mixtapes on my site but it is to prove a point.  I am a hip hop fan first and foremost, so I listen to music as so.  Secondly, I make music, so seeing and hearing things makes me feel a certain way.  I will try to include some good music to balance it all out so you are not all overwhelmed like me.  I welcome and encourage any and all of you to join in the Gorilla Zoe Challenge by listening to ALL 28 of his mixtapes, starting from the beginning.  The challenge is in full effect and I will share my thoughts on two more tomorrow.  In the meantime, here are the links for Crack Addiction and Diamonds, Dope and Dimez.
