Good morning and happy Monday. SIKE!!!!!!! Today was one of the most difficult mornings I have had in a while. I don’t really remember one second of the ride to work and not really sure how I even got here. This weekend was one of those weekends where it seemed like I was doing something every minute of every day and it lasted all the way up until 2:45am last night when I FINALLY got to bed. Friday was pretty lowkey. I just had my fair share of budlights. Then Saturday I got up early to paint my guys living room. Saturday I was so tired from painting, I missed SLOT-A’s birthday celebration and went to bed at 11:15. That’s some straight old man shit right there. Sunday I got up early again and continued to paint my guy’s living room until we ran out of paint. Then I went home, showered and got right back in the car and went to the Do Division street frest and had a frew more brews. After the fest, we went to my house for seafood tacos(shout out to T Stackles) and butterfinger ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. Needless to say I was WAY too full. About an hour after dinner, my buddy calls me and tells me we HAVE to go out because his boy, DJ Irie from Miami is spinning at Underground in Chicago. It’s been maybe 2 years since I have been out on a Sunday Night, especially when I have to work the next day. So I took a two hour nap, woke up at 10:30 and got ready to go out. We met up with DJ Irie and his frends, who also included Chris Duhon and the owner of Underground. The night was looking like it could get out of hand quickly. So we go to Underground and wait til about 12:30 for DJ Irie to start spinning. He immediately comes on and kills it, so it was well worth the wait. Not to mention, Jason Giambi, Alfonso Soriano and several other pro athletes are running around the club. Pretty strange for a Sunday Night if you ask me. I had one of those “your not in Kansas any more” moments. So finally I crashed, woke up at 8 and hopped in the car and found an Ultimate Aaliyah CD. I put that in and rode the whole way to work until one of my favorites songs of all time comes on, One in a Million. Not only does Tim kill the production, I am pretty sure Aaliyah was singing to me when she recorded it. It is still such a tragedy she passed away. She was gorgeous and super talented. RIP. Anyways, another Monday is upon us but there isn’t a better way to start it then with some Aaliyah, so enjoy.

Birthday Sex Official Video
And the moment you all(meaning me) have all been waiting for……….the premiere of Jeremih’s Birthday Sex. I’m not gonna front though, I thought the video was gonna be a little bit hotter with a badder female. Kanye was right, “when he get on he’ll leave your ass for a white girl.” I wish he would have put Roxy Reynolds or Ice La Fox in the video. Anyways, enjoy!!!

Reality Check via Black Thought
First off it’s Friday!!!!!!!!!!! Secondly, it’s an AMAZING day in Chicago. 71 degrees and the sun is shining and the weather is sweet. I think yesterday’s theme song might be more fitting for today. Anyways, last night I managed to get my hands on a copy of the late, great J Dilla’s new album, Jay Stay Paid. I can’t lie, I was pretty excited about hearing some “new” J Dilla shit, especially after hearing that Black Thought joint a few weeks ago. Which leads me to my song of the day. Reality Check featuring Black Thought. When I heard the joint on HipHopDx a few weeks ago, I already knew it would be dope but I didn’t really listen too hard. Today when I heard that shit, I was blown away. The reason the song is called Reality Check is because Thought raps about his girl watching damn near every reality TV ever aired. He even talks about the ones he wants to watch but his girl want let him. This is one of the dopest verses/songs I have heard in a while. It especially hit a sensative spot for me because the two women I spend the most time with watch those damn shows ALL THE TIME. I can’t front though because I have watched my fair share of reality TV but this shit has gotten out of hand. So fellas, check it out because Black Thought explains the TV power struggle between women and men and how women are more concerned with someone else’s reality than their own. Ladies takes notes and turn that BULLSHIT off unless its Candy Girls. JK. RIP J DIllA. G.O.A.T.

Good Evening/Good Morning
There is nothing like going to bed after a good night except waking up after a good night to a good morning. Yesterday my guy hit me up about performing a couple joints at the Lyricist Fix show in Chicago with Rhymefest. So naturally I was pretty geeked to be able to share the stage with Fest. I got to the show last night and was told I was rocking first. Rhymefest grabbed the mic for his hosting duties and introduced the first act and it wasn’t me. At this point, I am assuming that because of the late start, I won’t get to perform. After the first act, Rhymefest gets on the mic again, does a joint or two then welcomes me to the stage. It was crazy walking up to the stage and grabbing the mic from Rhymefest and performing with him in the front row. The rest goes as expected. Me and Slot kill it. We had everyone in the spot yelling “Get The Fuck Up!!!!!” We finish with a joint from my “Stapler” album and had the whole crowd rocking. Needless to say last night was real cool. Fast forward 6 hours of sleep. I woke up with a slight hangover from drinking coors and miller lite all night, shower, get dressed and get to my car when I notice something under my windshield whiper. I open the bag and it is a bootleg copy of my NEW favorite movie, Cars. Now I’m feeling like a million bucks so I pop in the soundtrack for the reggae/dancehall documentary “Made in Jamaica” and ride to the first 4 songs. When the 5th song comes on, it’s Bob Marley’s “Sun is Shining” and it pretty much explain exactly how I am feeling. Despite the sun NOT actually shining, the song makes you feel like you literally just woke up, stepped outside and the day feels like everything is perfect. So despite the overcast and cloudy day in Chicago, the sun is DEFINITELY shining on me today.
