Black Milk “Deadly Medley” Featuring Royce Da 5’9″ and Elzhi

Here is a lesson for all the rappers out there, including myself.  Listen closely and take notes.  Deadly Medley

These are three of the sickest cats out and Black Milk’s production is always crazy.  Black Milk’s new album, Album of the Year is set to drop on September 14th and will probably deserve a purchase from everyone out there.  I think you can all look forward to a Black Milk/Mike Murder track in the works.

Slum Village “Reunion Part 2″ Video

Before I get to my full post today, I wanted to share a new video from one of my favorite groups, Slum Village.  They are getting ready to drop their last album as a group, Village Manifesto and recently released a video for their track, Reunion Part 2 featuring Illa J.  I’m not sure if Slum Village is officially breaking up but apparently there was some issues with Elzhi and word on Twitter is that Village Manifesto will be their last album.  It’s kind of painful that both Little Brother and Slum Village announced their last albums in the same year.  I know all parties will keep making music though so, it’s not totally devastating.  Stay tuned for more updates about Village Manifesto.  I also wanted to include Reunion Part I which was featured on Slum Village’s Detroi Deli album.  J Dilla blesses the track with a verse over the Black Milk produced banger.  RIP J Dilla and Baatin.

Big Pooh and Black Milk present The Purple Tape

I got some new more music for everyone for the third consecutive day.  This time Rapper Big Pooh and Black Milk dropped a project called The Purple Tape.  I’m not sure if Big Pooh is comparing his work to Raekwon’s or there is some other meaning but the collab sounding alright to me.  I’m not the biggest Big Pooh fan but he is a part of Little Brother so I typically listen to most of the music he releases.  With Black Milk involved, I figured this might be a solid project.  Big Pooh’s music is never bad but I typically find myself coming away with not much.  I listen for bars and wordplay and although Pooh isn’t necessarily a slouch, he just rarely impresses me.  His hooks are typically boring and his bars are pretty average.  Having said that, I thought Pooh sounded pretty good over some of the instrumentals.  I would definitely recommend downloading the “tape” especially for all you LB, Hall of Justus stans.  I just find myself missing Phonte and wishing Elzhi was on the Black Milk beats.
