Random Axe “The Hex’ Music Video

One of my favorite producer/emcees, Black Milk is getting ready to put out a project with Sean Price and Guilty Simpson under the name Random Axe.  I think you know that shit sounds kinda seriously.  They just dropped a video for a track called The Hex.  Dope record and dope video.  Check it out below and stay tuned for more updates.

I guess Black Milk’s Album of the Year fell out of the top 200 after just a week.  Damn shame seeing as how he has one of the best albums of the year.  Eminem looks like he will definitely hit triple platinum this year.  I wonder what Lil Weezy’s new(WACK) album, I Am Not A Human Being will sell.  I’m sure he will sell over 100k maybe 200.

Black Milk “Welcome(Gotta Go)” Music Video

You have seen a lot of positive words about Black Milk’s new album, Album of the Year around these parts and will probably continue to do so for a while especially as new music videos and whatnot keep hitting the net.  Today, Black dropped a video for Welcome(Gotta G0).  The video is of course dope and will hopefully encourage you to buy his new album and get it back on the charts.  Check it out below

Weekly Sales

Several new releases hit the charts last week but only one managed to make a big splash.  Trey Songz new album, Passion Pain and Pleasure sold 240K in its first week and is sitting at number 2 on the charts.  Eminem is right behind him with 89K sold this week.  The other usual suspects are still sitting in the 15-30 range.  Check it out

A few new releases this week hit the charts.  Atmosphere does 9,400, Young Buck does 6,400 and the “Ice Cream Paint Job” man, Durrough does 5,500.  Oh yea and both of Eminem’s are still on the charts.  CRAZY.  Hopefully Black Milk can move at least 5,000.  I tried to find it at Best Buy and Target but it was no where to be found.  Shame.

Album of The Year

I meant to post this yesterday but got tied down but today is the official release date of Black Milk’s new album, Album of the Year.  If you kept up with last weeks posts then you know I was bumping Black Milk all last week in anticipation for this album.  Lucky for me, I had a copy last week but I didn’t want to give any details until the album actually dropped.  First off, Black Milk’s production on the album is CRAZY.  He really elevates his sound every step of the way.  It’s hard to imagine his beats getting any better but he continues to do it.  This album has a lot of live instruments which adds a BIG sound.  Lyrically, Black Milk also continues to elevate his pen game.  He continues to progress and make himself a problem on the microphone as well.  If Kanye isn’t careful, Black Milk might overtake this title as the best producer/rapper in the game.  Personally, I think Black is a better rhymer but Kanye has that humor and simplicity in his rhymes.  Black Milk is much more pattern heavy.  Anyway, Album of the Year has 11 tracks that all bang.  A few of the hooks could change but it seems like that is always the case with any album.  Although I still think Big Boi has album of the year, Black Milk’s album will definitely be in the top 5-7.  His joint, Black and Brown, featuring Danny Brown is CRAZY.  Possibly my favorite beat on the album.  Warning is also one of my favorite joints.  That shit is real cool too.  I’m hoping everyone has already seen the video for Deadly Medley so, here are two of my favorites on the album, Warning and Black and Brown.  Go purchase the album today, hopefully Best Buy will be carrying copies.

Tronic

I’m still on my Black Milk ish and will be for a while.  Today’s classic shit Friday’s goes to Black Milk for his album, Tronic.  It dropped late 2008.  I remember the first song I heard was Give The Drummer Sum.  Naturally, the joint was sick.  Then I heard the joints, Losing Out and The Matrix, which pretty much sealed the deal for me.  Black was back at and continuing to up the ante and put out quality shit.  Anyway, after loving Album of the Year, I had to continue my Black Milk journey with Tronic.  I invite you all to check out Tronic again and get ready for Tuesday when Album of the Year hits stores.   Check out Losing Out and The Matrix.  Royce and Pharoahe Monch go crazy on their respective features.

Pressure

Fuck it, it’s Black Milk week over this way.  I can’t stop listening to Album of the Year but I figured that I needed a small break so, I’m checking out his mixtape, Pressure that dropped several years ago.  I would be a lot of money that Black Milk becomes one of the industry’s go to producers in the next few years.  Mainstream acts will start fucking with dude for sure.  I’m not sure why they haven’t been for years because he puts out incredible stuff.  Anyway, Pressure is a compilation of tracks that Black produced for himself and other artists.  Tracks like Let’s Go with Pharoahe Monch and Reunion with Slum V are of course stand outs but the whole tape is dope and gives you a taste of what Black Milk has done.  Fast forward to know, Black Milk drops one of the top 10 albums of the year based on production alone.  Oh yea, Canibus is on this shit too going crazy.  Check out Canibus joint, Da Facelift and Keep It Live with Mr. Porter, who is another SICK producer as well.
