Very big things are in store for Add-2 this year. Just in case his first two records from Save.Our.Souls wasn’t enough, Add drops his new record, Going, Going, Gone produced by Grammy Award Winner, 9th Wonder. So far, 9th Wonder, Phonte, Common and Nas are all backing Add-2 and apparently the LRG camp hit up him yesterday too. Like I said, VERY big things are in store for Add-2 this year.

Wow this just made my damn day! Three of my favorites of all time
It’s already been a big year for Add-2 with the MTV Suckafree Freestyle and now, his new joint, Iron Mike, has been retweeted by Common and 9th Wonder. Add has been getting a lot of love for Iron Mike and rightfully so. His new album, Save.Our.Souls is coming out soon so, stay tuned! In the meantime listen and download, Iron Mike below.
All week=new projects. Yesterday was Devin The Dude’s new album, Suite 420 and today’s listen comes from the California emcee, Murs and North Carolina producer, 9th Wonder. Most people probably think I’m wetting my pants right now in anticipation of hearing some new 9th beats. I can assure you that I wasn’t that excited but more curious than anything. I skimmed through one of Murs and 9th’s old projects but it didn’t really strike me but I figured with my new, “willing” ear, this project might catch me differently. This might surprise most people but I was actually a little disappointed with the beats, moreso than what Murs brings to that table. I’ve never been a Murs fan so, I wasn’t expecting to be converted on this project but I was looking forward to some 9th classics. I got to say, it just didn’t happen for me. The production wasn’t bad but there weren’t joints I had to rewind and for me, that is what 9th is notorious for, neck snappers. I think Murs fans will definitely enjoy this effort so, I can appreciate what he stands for and what he brings to the table. You got to love his dreads too. Check out Asian Girls. 9th Wonder even catches a little reck on the mike. Pretty asburd song if you ask me. I wonder if asian women takes this as a compliment????
Sorry for the day-late update. The numbers from last week’s sale are in and the usual suspects are still sitting up top. New to the charts this week is the group, MGMT. Not sure if yall are familiar with them but they are on Kid Cudi’s album and had a song Electic Feel that was pretty big. Ursher, Monica, Sade and Luda are still “chillin” in the top spots. Check.

Murs and 9th Wonder hit the charts with their album, Fornever, moving just under 6,000. Wu-Massacre is getting closer to the 60K mark and Gucci Mane hit the charts moving 20K with a new “mixtape,” Burrprint 2 HD. Stayed tuned til next week for releases from Little Brother and Devin The Dude.
This might be the moment that everyone has been waiting for including myself. I have been bumping the new LB album, LeftBack for several days now in anticipation for the official release tomorrow. As everyone SHOULD know by now, this is Little Brother’s last album together, which breaks my heart, so the anticipation and expectations have been high all around. After the classic shit on GetBack, I have been thinking about this album nonstop so, when I found out it was going to be their last, my hopes increased ten fold. The first track I heard was Curtain Call, which I thought was pretty dope. Seemed like a very fitting song for a last album. Other than that, I heard nothing about LeftBack except for a little Phonte and 9th Wonder Twitter “drama,” which made me lose some hope for hip hop. Nonethelesss, Christman came last week in the form of the new album and I have listened several times and my honest “unbiased” opinion is the album is a little disappointing. First off, some of the production I don’t really like. It doesn’t quite bang like the rest of their material. In addition, there are two remixes too songs that were featured on Getback. This threw me off more than anything. For a last album, I was hoping that all the tracks would be nothing less than stellar and although both of the originals were dope, the remixes are skips for me. Having said all that, it’s still LB, it’s still Phonte and Big Pooh. The music still has heart, soul and meaning. Phonte is sharper than ever and Big Pooh continues to step his game up. LeftBack is a little too feature heavy but Tigallo for Dolo is worth the pricetag alone. Although fans might be a little disappointed with the album, the bigger disappointment will be because this is LB’s last go round. Here is the track list, Curtain Call and my official farewell to LB. It’s be a pleasure.

I know this is a bittersweet moment for people all over the world but Little Brother’s next album, Leftback will be their last as a group. I guess Little Brother will fall to the same fate as many of the greatest rap groups ever. I don’t know if it is just artists growing in separate directions or the nature of this game but too many incredible groups have split. I guess we should all be thankful for the 4 albums and numerous mixtapes LB blessed us with but I can’t help but feel a little defeated. Anyway, the cover and tracklist for Leftback just dropped and I had to share it with everyone. Check the cover above and the track list below. I promise i will try not to shed a tear. Sigh.

It’s dope to see Khrysis all over the album but I wish 9th had at least one joint. Regardless, I’m copping this shit the day it comes out. I am betting they moved about 30K first week. It would be nice to see them do 100K though.
Today is another special day in Mike Schpitz history, I am officially releasing my 5th music video for my joint, The Rain which is featured on my mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover. Love Potion has 16 tracks with all the beats borrowed from 9th Wonder. The video was shot, edited and directed by Tori Boyd, who has also done Sit on the Moon, New World, Sucka MCs and Add-2′s video Starter Jacket. The video is a tribute to my cousin, John Mills Neiswanger who recently passed away. The Rain showcases some of Chicago’s urban scenery. I look forward to hearing what everyone thinks. This is perhaps the most important video to date, so please share your thoughts, comments and feedback. Make sure you download the whole mixtape as well below.

Today is my first planned release of 2010. Last week was a surprise to me included to find some footage of my live performance at Mc B’s in Topeka. Today I am releasing two remixes of my joints, Fit Right and The Bump. Both songs were featured on my EP/Demo, 100K Takeover. The Bump was also featured on my mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover. Fit Right was originally produced by THX and recorded as a submission for Ursession.com and The Wake Up Show’s contest, The 100K Battle. The Bump was also part of that contest. Even though I didn’t win, both songs turned out really ill. My guy LONEgevity hit me up about doing some remixes so I sent him a few acapellas and voila. Shout out to LONEgevity for bring a fresh sound to both of these tracks and making them my own now. Download, listen and share both remixes, Fit Right and The Bump produced by LONEgevity.
Make sure you holler at LONEgevity too and check out some more of his work. He is an emcee/producer and half of the group HINX JONES from Indianapolis.
