Pusha T “Raid” featuring 50 Cent and Pharrell

FIRE ALERT!!!!!!  Pusha T has been making everyone wait for a while for his new mixtape, Fear of God.  With his signing to GOOD Music, he quickly became one of the game’s most anticipated solo projects.  His mixtape, Fear of God was supposed to drop last September but for whatever reason got pushed back.  It is set to drop next week and Pusha has had three heaters leak so far. The newest one, Raid featuring 50 Cent and Pharrell produced by The Neptunes.  This is exactly the type of shit that I love hearing from Pusha and the Clipse.  50 sounds dope on this shit too.  Check out Raid below as well as his other two leaks, My God and Cook It Down.  Fear of God, March 22nd, stay tuned.

Weekly Numbers 12/31/2009

For my last post of 2009, I wanted to share the weekly numbers with everyone.  Christmas seemed to be very helpful to a lot of artist’s sales including Eminem, Alicia Keys and Black Eyed Peas.  New releases like Mary J Blige and Young Money’s We Are Young Money made strong debuts as well.  Here is the top.

Rank Artist Album This Week Est. Total

57 50 Cent Before I Self Destruct
29,000 334,000
171 Clipse Til The Casket Drops
8,400 51,000

Despite dropping one of the best albums of the year, the Clipse are still not moving units like they should.  Gucci Mane’s sales are a little disappointing,” if you look at how many times his shit is played on the radio.  50 Cent looks like he probably won’t break gold either.  I wonder how people are feeling about 2009 and what the future will hold????  Stayed tuned for next weeks sales.  Happy Holidays to all.  See you  next year.

Weekly Numbers 12/16/2009

I almost forgot to comment on the weekly numbers today.  Today is the end one of the biggest weeks of the year for hip hop because the Clipse dropped their 3rd album, Til The Casket Drops.  People were estimating that the Clipse were only going to move a measly 30K in their first week.  Well, those numbers were correct.  Clipse dropped one of the best albums of the year but only managed to sell just over 30K.  I don’t know WTF is wrong with people because they also dropped 3 of the best songs of the year before the album even dropped.  Another “shocker” to some might be Gucci Mane’s numbers.  He moved 90K in his first week, which if you ask me is terrible considering he RUNS the radio.  If labels haven’t been scrambling, they should be now.  Hits don’t mean record sales unless your Jay-Z, Black Eyed Peas, Eminem or Lil Wayne.  It’s a sad day for real.  Regardless, I still encourage everyone to go out and BUY Clipse album because it is worth the money.  Gucci’s on the other hand, maybe just google The State Vs. Radric Davis mediafire.  That should do.  Chris Brown pulled in Rihanna numbers with just over 100K, Snoop moved just under 60K and Timbaland FAILED with 40K.  Check the top.

For having absolutely no promotion, BG’s album almost hit 20K.  50 looks like he will never reach platinum and Michael Jackson is STILL the man.  Stay tuned for next weeks numbers.

Weekly Numbers 12/9/2009

It’s that time of the week again and the numbers are looking a little better for some people. R. Kelly debuted selling over 100K his first week, Rihanna and 50 Cent are right around a quarter millie, Birdman breaks 50K and Juvenile(I didn’t even know he had a new album) sits right under 25K. No real surprises here. I actually a little surprised to see Birdman moving a few units but he does have Money To Blow and 4 My Town(Play Ball) on his album. Here is the top.

Rank            Artist                   Album            This Week     Est. Total

4              R. Kelly                  Untitled           114,000     114,000

And for the bottom. Jay is in the bottom!!!!!!!! Kind of.

112     Eminem                 Relapse                      8,400     1,542,000

I hope Blakroc can move around 10K a week and hit that 50K mark. That would be beautiful. Stay tuned for next week’s numbers because two of the most hyped released dropped yesterday, The Clipse and Gucci Mane. Any guesses how many Gucci will sell?? I’m gonna guess just under 500K. The Clipse will probably do around 60K.

Weekly Numbers 12/2/2009

I got more numbers for those who are still in denial.  50 Cent made his way to a quarter millie, Black Eyed Peas are still murdering most people’s first week numbers, Birdman did better than I would have predicted and Blakroc isn’t breaking much ground even though Hoochie Coo is AMAZING.  Here is the top.

Strong Enough

Maybe I’m just feeling generous this year but I have stepped out and purchased 2 albums in 2009.  First was Raekwon and the most recent is 50 Cent’s new album, Before I Self Destruct.  Now I purchased them both for different reasons but none the less, I have the physical copies and pictures to prove it.  50′s album dropped Tuesday in stores and yesterday I purchased the triple deluxe version of the album, that includes a sample of 50′s new cologne and 2 movies.  50′s directorial debut, BISD the movie is one of the movies included and the other is a Jam Master Jay documentary.  Needless to say, I’m going to put on 50′s cologne and watch both movies back to back.  The real reason I purchased BISD is because two of my guys, Nascent and QB Da Problem produced track nine, Strong Enough.  The song is one of the “strongest” on the album and is Sha Money XL’s favorite joint.  So today is dedicated to Nascent and QB.  Check out Strong Enough as well as the other track they did for 50 called RedRum(187) from his mixtape War Angel.

Before I Self Destruct

50 Cent

Happy Monday and Happy November to all.  There are just two short months left in 2009.  The last quarter of 09 has had some big names drop albums and some even bigger names schedule to drop.  Perhaps one of the biggest is 50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct.  Normally I wouldn’t be so geeked for this album but two of my guys, QB and Nascent produced track 9, Strong Enough on the album.  Needless to say, I was pretty stoked when I got my hands on a copy of BISD last week.  I can’t lie either, the first 9 tracks on the album are pretty dope.  I was excited after I heard Crime Wave a couple weeks ago and was hoping the rest of the album would be as tough.  I’m not the biggest 50 fan in the world but I like to hear him go hard and talk that shit.  I think although the album is classic or whatever, the people that have been waiting to hear some “old” 50 shit will be pleased with several cuts on the album.  My favorite cut is Stretch but there are a few more that come in close second.  I suggest taking a few listens through for some classic 50 shit.  There are definitely some skippable songs but the standouts are worth hearing.  I won’t leak any of the tracks out of respect for my guys on the album but here is the Crime Wave video to give you a taste.  Check out the track list as well.

1. The Invasion
2. Then Days Went By
3. Death To Enemies
4. So Disrespectful
5. Psycho featuring Eminem
6. Hold Me Down
7. Crime Wave
8. Stretch
9. Strong Enough
10. Get It Hot
11. Gangsta’s Delight
12. I Got Swag
13. Baby by Me” (feat. Ne-Yo)
14. Do You Think About Me
15. Ok, You’re Right
16. Could’ve Been You

iTunes Bonus Tracks

17. Flight 187
18. Baby by Me
19. Man’s World

Swagger Like Us vs Crack A Bottle

With all of the hype around Jay-Z , Blueprint 3 and now with 50 Cent dropping his album on the same day(I still thinking it is a marketing ploy by labels to sell records), two important questions must be asked:  Who will sell more records and more importantly who will have the better album?  I touched on this topic briefly in an early post but I wanted to officially ask the question and provide an example.  Case and point.  Which song is better and which song is a bigger disappointment, Crack A Bottle or Swagger Like Us?  Crack A Bottle was the first leak from Eminem’s HIGHLY anticipated return, Relapse and it featured production AND a verse from the legendary Dr. Dre and a verse from 50 Cent.  Em even says “the platinum trio is back on you hoes.”  How do you feel about the “three headed monster’s” return to hip hop?  Was it as dope as those three are capable of or was it a disappointment and a tragedy?  More importantly compared to TI/Jay-Z’s “single” Swagger Like Us, is Crack A Bottle a better song or a bigger disappoinment?  Swagger Like Us was originally for TI’s album, Paper Trail until Jackin Jay-Z stole it for his album that eventually got pushed back and retracted as a single.  SLU, as some like to call it, features the 4 hottest rappers in the world, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and TI over a Kanye West produced beat with an MIA sample.  Is SLU as incredible as these 4 emcees are capable of or is the song a failed/lazy attempt by 4 of the most overrated emcees in the game?  Who shined and who failed?  I want to hear everyone’s thoughts about which song, Crack A Bottle or Swagger Like Us is better as well as which song is more of a disappointment.  I have my own thoughts but I will save them for another time.  Just in case you need a refresher, here they both are.

50 Does It Again……September 11th

Jay-Z and 50 Cent

I just read an article on Hiphopdx(that came from Yo Raps) that says Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3 and 50 Cent’s Before I Self-Destruct are both dropping on the eighth anniversary of September 11th.  For the second time, 50 has purposely released his album  on the same day as another hip hop heavy weight.  Last time, 50 and Kanye went head to head and Kanye not only smashed him in record sales, he put out a better album.  This time around, 50 is going against, arguably the GOAT, Jay-Z.  If this was 2001, I would say 50 had no chance but in light of Jay-Z turning from GOAT to OOAT, I think 50 is gonna MERK Jay and put out a better album.  I think Jay will sell more copies thatn 50 just because Jay will have Kanye, Drake AND Lil Wayne on his album because he can’t hold his own any longer.  Regardless, I think this will officially be Jay’s last attempt to keep his legacy alive and a DECENT moment in hip hop.  I like how 50 continues to go up against the biggest names in hip hop.  He seems to be one of the last with that competitive spirit.  I might even drop Love Potion that day and take em BOTH down.  Stay tuned for all the press and publicity the “showdown” will receive.  Big ups to 50 for challenging the OOAT when everyone else is just scurrrred.  The GAME too.  Good shit GAME.  Peep the article.

50 Cent to release new album same day as Jay-Z

50 Cent War Angel

50 Cent War Angel Cover 50 Cent War Angel Track list

Normally I wouldn’t post anything about 50 Cent’s album dropping because he gets enough hype anyways but today is a real special day.  One of the tracks, RedRum (Murder) on 50′s new “album, ” War Angel, was produced by my guy Qb da Problem and Nascent. I have been cool with QB for a while now.  I met him through The League’s own, Rob Bates.  We chop it up about all things hip hop and got plans on doing some music together very soon.  I recently met Nascent too at a studio session with Rob Bates while we recording for my 3rd album(TBA).  I knew QB did a track for 50′s new album Before I Self-Destruct but I didn’t realize the QB and Nascent worked together until last week.  Come to find out, they have a track on War Angel AND a track on Before I Self-Destruct.  They are definitely doing big things this year.  Download 50′s new album, War Angel right here and check out RedRum produced by Qb da Problem and Nascent.
