I was reading an article on HipHopDX the other day about the historic hip hop night at the club, The Tunnel in NYC. The author was just talking about how crazy hip hop nights were at The Tunnel during it’s heyday. Tons of celebrities used to come through on hip hop night. Hit records would get certified at The Tunnel. It sounded pretty insane. In the article, there was a reference to DJ Cipha Sounds and Complex magazine’s list of the 75 Greatest Tunnel Bangers. The list was really cool. I can imagine being in a wild ass club in NY with rappers and regular folk alike and hearing some of these joints, watching people go insane. After doing some investigating, I found a link on someone’s blog that compiled all 75 joints into a single file. Great idea if you ask me. I won’t tell you what number one on the list is but tracks like Biggie’s 10 Crack Commandments, Jay-Z’s Do It Again, Cam’Ron’s Horse and Carriage and Pharoahe Monch’s Simon Says all make the list.
