No Ceilings

No Celings

Today might surprise a lot of you especially with my most recent feelings towards pretty much everyone in hip hop but I decided to stay hating for a couple days and take in Lil Wayne’s new mixtape, No Ceilings.  After hearing Weezy spazz on Swag Surfin and Run This Town, I figured that even if the mixtape was trash, at least there were two standouts.  I haven’t listened to every track but so far, I fuck with it, TOUGH.  Lil Wayne pretty much spazzes on every song.  He is sounded pretty hungry.  Maybe he has heard some of the chatter about him falling off or Drake writing all his shit.  Regardless, No Ceilings has quotables for days and YES, Mike Schpitz will keep it in rotation.  Damn, I can’t believe I just said that outloud.  It shouldn’t be too much of a shock for people because I did dedicate 5 years of my life working as Weezy’s personal advocate.  I can’t even tell you how many hours I spent, listening, arguing and convincing people that Lil Wayne, the wobbledy, wobbledy dude was one of the best rappers out.  I can’t say that I am totally back on Wayne’s side after this mixtape but I will be checking for his new material.  I hope he keeps it quality and doesn’t continue to flood the world with too much music.  Shout out to Lil Wayne for No Ceilings.  Download it here, I stole the link from my guy Anthony at YNotMyDream who stole it from 2dopeboyz.  Here are his joints, Swag Surfin and Run This Town to give everyone a little taste of what Weezy is offereing on No Ceilings.  Happy Friday and Happy Halloween.

Seventeen

Musiq

For the last week, I have been riding around to The Best of Musiq Soulchild mixtape mixed by DJ Finesse.  I just can’t seem to take it out of the tapedeck for longer than a day.  I have been a fan of Musiq since Jusfriends came out in 2000.  Every album since then, I have listened to faithfully except for Onmyradio but I’ll get to that one eventually.  I found myself rewinding 3 or 4 songs from the mixtape but his track, Seventeen from Aijustwanaseing.  I think it’s the beat and how the track opens that makes it so infectious but that joint is crazy.  I can’t say I feel his pain of falling for a seventeen year old but the song is dope nonetheless.  If you are not a fan or avid listening of Musiq, now is the time to stop sleeping.  He is one of the most consistent singers.  I would place him in the same league as Erykah Badu.  Musiq seems to keep it fresh every go round but still remain true to himself and his fans.  Onmyradio’s first single, Radio didn’t really float my boat but I have a feeling the rest of the album is good.  Anyway, enjoy Seventeen.  I got a special treat for everyone tomorrow.  A BIG album leaked yesterday and I got it.  Shout out to QB and Nascent.

Album Sales 10/28/2009

It is a sad, sad day people and by sad I mean VERY sad.  The weekly album sales are in and Royce Da 5’9″, who is one of the biggest names on the blogs/websites/internet, etc moved about as many units Mack 10.  Wait a minute, does that even make sense?  I’m kinda confused because Lil Boosie dropped an album or mixtape and sold damn near DOUBLE the amount that Royce sold.  Kid Cudi is STILL moving more units than Royce.  I can’t say that I’m surprised but I am more so just disappointed and lost.  Drake is still going strong, Jay sold another 45K and the Black Eyed Peas are still doing the same.  Peep.

61 Kid Cudi Man On The Moon: End Of Day

Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem Cypher at BET Hip Hop Awards

I feel like Katt Williams, “This shit right HERE!!!!!!!!!!!” I only watched a couple performances from the BET Hip Hop Awards last night and unfortunately Gucci Mane was 3 of them but I did get to see Goodie Mob tear shit up.  I heard about the cypher with Mos Def, Black Thought and Eminem and I just now watched and listened and (my jaw is on the ground).  I just want to let some people know that, if you rap/emcee and you are any where content with your skills and abilities on the mike, unless your Elzhi or Pharoahe Monch or one of these three guys, you NEED to work harder.  This shit is amazing.  Props to BET giving a little bit of shine to some of the games greatest and for the Goodie Mob performance.  With that said, I am going to retract those props to BET for letting Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane and Shawty Lo perform Gucci Bandana.

I am going to watch the rest of the cyphers now.  I heard Budden spazzes too.

Memories Live

Reflection

I don’t know about ya’ll but yesterday was a damn good day.  For me, the promotion of my mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover began, I got some new flannel sheets for my bed AND the 2009-2010 NBA season officially tipped off with the Cavs vs Celtics and the Lakers vs Clippers.  Cavs lost and Lakers won.  Tonight there are two more games on ESPN, Hornets vs Spurs and Jazz vs Nuggets.  Make sure you tune in.  This morning I was feeling rather “reflective” so I put in one of my favorite albums of all time, Train of Thought from Reflection Eternal.  This album needs no description and validation from me but I found myself zoing out to Memories Live.  Kweli’s lyrics on this joint are PERFECT.  The whole song is just amazing.  It gives me goosebumps for real.  I thought I was gonna be stopped at a traffic light and just start crying. LOL smiley face(shout out to Trey Songz).  Memories Live is one of the songs that I would play for a person who absolutely hated rap and I am willing to bet that their opinion might sway slightly.  Shout out to Kweli and Hi Tek for making incredible music.  I hope they drop that album in 2010.

Damn, I’m really fucking up this morning.  I already sent my emails, posted on twitter, facebook and myspace before I posted my brand new joints on my own damn site.  Forgive me please.  It is with great pleasure that I present to you, the first two leaks from my 9th Wonder produced mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover.  The mixtape is sponsored by FlawlessHustle.com, Chicago sneaker boutique AKIN and hosted by RefinedHype.com.  The Hangover features 16 songs as an A side/B side mixtape.  The first 8 tracks are from the original Love Potion Number 9th which was released back in December of 2007.  Those tracks also feature The Only Ones Crew/League of Ordinary Gentlemen members, Adullessence, Large Marge and Stik Figa.  The last 8 tracks are songs that were recorded after the original was released.  These 8 tracks are The Hangover portion of the mixtape.  All tracks are produced and borrowed from 9th Wonder.  The first leak is Blow It Out which is from The Hangover side.  It is an ode to two of my best friends as well as the average “nine to fiver” who struggles with his/her situation and positioning in life.  The second track, Let It Go is from the Love Potion portion and features Adullessence, Large Marge and Stik Figa.  Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover is scheduled to be released on November 17th via FlawlessHustle.com, MikeSchpitz.com and hosted by RefinedHype.com.  The mixtape release party/listening session is on November 14th at AKIN(1313 S Halsted).  The first 100 people in attendance get a physical, advanced copy of Love Potion.  Download Blow It Out and Let It Go.

The Clipse featuring Cam’ron Popular Demand(Popeyes)

This joint leaked late last week and I have listened several times since.  Needless to say, I can’t WAIT for The Clipse new album, Til The Casket Drops.  I was a little nervous after reading a preview and whatnot but after hearing this shit, I am sold.  This will definitely be one of the best albums of 2009 and guess what, I am going to PURCHASE my copy.  The artwork is definitely going to be ill.  Check out The Clipse latest leak, Popular Demand(Popeyes) featuring Cam’ron and Pharrell.

Pusha is top 10 out right now.

The Specials

Happy Monday to all.  This weekend was a great weekend in Chicago.  I saw Blue Man Group at the Briar Street Theatre on Saturday evening with my mom.  We had to wear ponchos so we didn’t get regurgitated twinkie all over us.  It was a great show, very entertaining.  Last week was busy with leaks from the Flawless Hustle mixtape, Money Isn’t Real.  If  you haven’t already downloaded it, make sure you get it.  Tomorrow, I will begin promoting m 9th Wonder produced mixtape, Love Potion Number 9th: The Hangover.  I will be dropping my first two singles, Blow It Out and Let It Got featuring Adullessence, Large Marge and Stik Figa.  Love Potion: The Hangover is sponsored by FlawlessHustle.com, AKIN and RedefinedHype.com.  I look forward to hearing what everyone thinks.  Last night, I decided to start the week in a different direction with my musical selection.  Today’s album is from the ska band, The Specials.  My brother has been listening to them for a long time and recommened recently that I check out their Singles Collection.  I put it in this morning and it immediately started bringing back memories from my 1st childhood.  I remember my brother listening to most of these songs.  The Singles Collection is definitely a great way to start the week, especially on a gloomy Monday morning.  Here are a few songs from The Specials including Gunz of Navarone which Karindal Offishall sampled for his joint, See The Fire from Kill Bloodclot Bill.  Enjoy.

Money Talks produced by THX

Mike Schpitz 2

To wrap up the week, here is my third and final leak, Money Talks produced by THX.  For anyone unfamiliar with THX, he produced my joint Fit Right which was part of the UrSession.com and Wake Up Show’s 100K Battle.  THX also produced Don’t Stop from Snoop Dogg’s Blue Carpet Treatment.  He is also working with Busta Rhymes and The Clipse shouted him out in a video.  Definitely expected BIG things from THX in the near future.  He is a real cool cat that blessed me with this joint.  If you haven’t already download Flawless Hustle’s mixtape, Money Isn’t Real, make sure you get that.  All three leaks this week are featured exclusively on Money Isn’t Real.  Happy Friday to all and enjoy the new music.
