EPICNESS ALERT!!!!!!!

Lebron and Drake

I bet money Lebron bumps Drake before games this season.

If you guys thought Swagger Like Us was epic, you GOTTA check this shit.  Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne AND Eminem.  The song is called Forever and it actually already dropped a while back but it was just with Drake, Lil Wayne and Kid Kid.  Apparently, the song had to be remade with raps BIGGEST stars.  I wonder why Jay wasn’t asked to be featured?  Anyway, tell me how you guys feel about this joint.  Who comes the hardest?  Who is slacking? Is this joint epic or just an epic failure?????  I’m gonna go ahead and say that Drake is the most hyped artist since 50.  Dude doesn’t even have an album yet.  CRAZY!!!!

Talkin’ To Myself

Tales From The Hood

“It’s a new day, grabbed my glock, cocked it and locked it”

Sounds like an incredible way to start the day.  I started my day living vicariously through the one time DPG/Deathrow affliates, NME and Grench The Mean 1, Talkin’ To Myself from the Tales From The Hood Soundtrack.  I’m not sure what happened to these cats but they have one of my favorite joints of all time.  This soundtrack is really dope because it features 3 Wu Tang joints with Gravediggaz, Ol Dirty Bastard and Inspectah Deck.  It also has joints from MC Eiht, Spice One, Domino and Facemob.  Tales From The Hood came out back when soundtracks were actually dope.  I’m gonna do some more research and see if NME or Grench have any more material floating around.  I might try to find this movie tonight and watch it again.  I know those dolls used to terrify me.

UPDATE:  Well, apparently Grench killed himself a year after this song dropped.  Damn shame.  I’m still gonna look for some more material from these cats.  Maybe NME dropped some music. RIP Grench.  He has a classic joint though.

RIP Aaliyah

Aaliyah

Today is the 8th anniversary of Aaliyah’s passing.  I remember back on 01 when I first heard the news.  I was just starting my senior year in high school.  I can’t remember how I found out or who told me but I remember just being bummed out for a few days.  Aaliyah was beautiful and made beautiful music.  She will always be missed but never forgotten.  Here are a few of my favorite Aaliyah songs.  RIP Aaliyah.

MJ A Rocker

MJ A Rocker

Last night, my guy Shitty Ranx hit me up about a new project from The Drastics called MJ A Rocker.  The Drastics take 6 Michael Jackson classics and put their spin on them.  I’m not a huge fan of remakes of artists that just died, especially Michael Jackon but I have been listening to MJ A Rocker and I really enjoy the project.  The Drastics are really dope live and have yet to disappoint with any of their music.  They have a really cool website too with free downloads and such.  MJ A Rocker is one of them.  They also have mixtapes they put together of dub, reggae and dancehall music.  Very dope.  Enjoy this free download, MJ A Rocker from Chicago’s own, The Drastics and make sure you check out their website, TheDrastics.com and catch them live.

Wu Tang-House of Flying Daggers

I didn’t have time to watch this video until I got home today but all I got to say is LEGENDARY.  Not only is this song dope AND produced by J Dilla, this video is incredible.  No more needs to be said.  WU!!!!!!!!

The homie Add-2 just dropped a new joint, Superman produced by IlL Meel, in anticipation for his mixtape, Tale of Two’s City Volume 3: The Rise and The fall.  I actually saw this joint being recorded and I must say that it is a monster.  Make sure you tune in Friday, August 28th for Add-2′s mixtape.  It is sponsored by 2dopeboyz AND Okayplayer.  Incredible looks for Add-2 and The League of Ordinary Gentlemen.  Also, check out the Superman promo video that Dakota Blue did.

Jay-Z Off That and Reminder

jay-z

Things are starting to heat up for Jay’s new album, Blueprint 3.  Yesterday Off That featuring Drake leaked and today Reminder leaked.  I have had the “pleasure” of hearing them both.  I’m gonna give Jay a little props and throw a little shot too.  Off That is BOGUS as hell and Reminder is kind of ill.  Doesn’t sound like the old Jay but so far for BP3, Jay is 1-4.  How do ya’ll feel????  Apparently both these joints are produced by Timbaland.

I jacked these links BTW one for Nahright and the other from realtalkNY or something.

Nocturnal

Hetlah Skeltah

Another Monday is upon us.  This weekend went by faster than usual.  I saw The Clipse on Friday at Sneakerpimps and they absolutely shut it down.  They played hit after hit after hit.  They even played What Happened To That Boy and Ride Around Shinin.  Needless to say, I was horse by the end of the show.  Yesterday afternoon, I went to the Glennwood Avenue Art Fest in Roger’s Park and saw Chicago dub band, The Drastics perform with MC Zulu.  My guy, Shitty Ranx has been telling me about The Drastics for a while but I haven’t gotten a chance to see them live until yesterday.  They were really dope.  Great vibe, great sound.  I definitely recommend seeing them live.  Their music is strictly instrumental dub but they perform with other artists a lot of times.  MC Zulu had the crowd dancing and feeling good too.  The weather was perfect too.  This morning I FINALLY got around to listening to an album that has been recommended to me numerous time.  My guy who runs Illcuts.com has been telling me about this album for a while, so today I’m listening to Heltah Skeltah, Nocturnal.  I haven’t listened to a whole lot of Boot Camp.  I remember Heltah Skeltah’s joint I Ain’t Having That with Redman years back as well as hearing Rock featured on a few records.  I’m only about 6 records into Nocturnal but so far the beats and rhymes are both on point.  Rock and Ruck have a really good chemistry and feed off each other well.  My favorite joint so far is Sean Price.  The hook is my shit.  I’ll probably make another post later in the day but the album and feature another song when I finish listening to the album.  In the meantime, enjoy another Monday and a little Heltah Skeltah, Sean Price.  Also, check out Sean Price’s solo efforts.  Dude is really dope.

Damian Marley Interview

Damian and Nas

I jacked this video from 2dopeboyz who got it from someone else but who cares right?  Damian Marley is one of the few artists who I actually try to watch, listen or read everything I see about him.  He has an album coming out with Nas called Distant Relatives that should be incredible.  The video features some live performances of Damian and Nas as well as an interview.  I hope you all are familiar with Damian Marley and his music.  He is truly incredible.  If you get a chance to see him perform, I strongly urge you to do so because he is one of the dopest live shows I’ve been too.
