ALRIGHT

*EDITED*

OKAY I’LL BELIEVE IT NOW. I STILL MAKE A VALID POINT, BUT MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD.  WELL, RIP.

In this day and age with the high speed of news travel, it is easy to get caught up in all of the reports.  Well, the King of Pop is not dead.  Sure he suffered cardiac arrest and the almighty TMZ reported from a source that he died.  I don’t believe too much of what TMZ says because all they do is stir the masses with there loose based reports.  I mean, does anybody remember some years ago when there was a report that his body was found at the Neverland Ranch and he was dead then?  That was based on an unnamed source too and it turned out to be false.  Just be careful with what you hear.  Anyways, CNN reported that he is now in a coma.  Which means he is alive and breathing.  Everybody relax and take a break.  Don’t be surprised if he dies pretty soon though because of all the stress he has been through his entire life.

Sky is the Limit

It has been a been a long time coming and a lot of hard and tedious work, writing, recording and promoting Sunday Drive.  All of which has been an incredible experience.  Learning what it takes to put together an entire album from writing, recording, paying for studio time while working a full time job, sending out thousands of emails, reaching out to blogs, sites and writers to get the word out there and posting countless facebook, twitter and myspace messages has been an overwhelming yet amazing experience.  I met with Phys Ed in March of 08 and a little over a year later we released Sunday Drive.  I had no idea what the reception was going to be or how many people I could expect to hear it but today, almost a month after releasing the album, we hit 1000 downloads.  I can’t begin to thank everyone enough.  Thank you to the cat at the job interview who introduced me to Phys Ed.  Thank you to Phys Ed for lacing me and seeing the vision behind the music.  Thank you to Graeme Williams who recorded, mixed and mastered the entire album.  Thanks to his pops, Dr. Caw Studios for allowing a rapper to crash his house.  Thank you to Dakota Blue for all of the photos and especially these pictures.  They turned out amazing.  Thank you to Heath O’Campo for absoluting KILLING the artwork.  Wait til  you see the next project.  Thank you to Tori Boyd for shooting, editing and directing Sit on the Moon and New World.  As well as taking the promo pics for Sit on the Moon and Roll Call.  Sucka MC’s will be the best one yet.  Thank you to Justin Gutierrez for shooting, directing and editing Roll Call and capturing Topeka the way it needed to be captured.  Thank you to Flawless Hustle for being the first website to fuck with the music.  Thank you to Fakeshore, Rubyhornet, Hip Hop Lives Stupid(lil sis), Strivin, The Hip Hop Chronicle, I Left My Ipod in El Segundo, Nerdwithswag, Topcity.org, Ataricoolkids, Kevin Fairbanks, Hip Hop Gremlins, Hip Hop Update(PCB 2010), OG Hip Hop, Rock The Dub, Y-Not My Dream(happy birthday bro), Wake Your Daughter Up, The Ovun, We Do It Right, SpzShip, Beatbox Radio and everyone else I might have forgotten.  I really appreciate everyone’s hard work and all the love and support you guys have show.  Nothing has went unnoticed.  Thank you to all the people I work with, all The League of OG’s.  Thank you to all my family and friends(you know who you are).  I’m gonna celebrate this weekend with my family and friends for Bo and Kim’s engagement party.  Congrats to ya’ll.  Here is to the next 1000 downloads.  Thank You Guys!!!!  If you haven’t already downloaded Sunday Drive, here is the tracklist and the download link.  Enjoy!!!!!!

How I Got Over

The Roots

Freshest Band on TV

I have a love/hate relationship with this song now, after sitting through an hour of TERRIBLE TV.  I’m not sure who gave Jimmy Fallon his show but they should be fired.  Dude is seriously not funny at all.  Thank god for The Roots or I would personally find the producers of his show and assasinate them all.  I can’t front though, I would sit through an hour of almost anything to watch The Roots perform.  This song is SOOOOOOOO dope.  I can’t wait for the album.  Check out Dice Raw and Black Thought singing on this joint.  Hip hop at its best.  Shout out to The Roots for continuously bringing that real shit.  They NEVER disappoint.  Stay tuned for the studio version of How I Got Over and any new updates about their upcoming album.  Black Thought might be the GOAT.

RIP Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett

It’s been a bad week for celebrities passing away.  First, Ed McMahon and now Farrah Fawcett.  Damn shame.  She was best know for her role in the 1970′s  hit TV show, Charlie’s Angel.  Farrah Fawcett passed died from cancer at the age of 62.  She recently shot a documentary about her battle with cancer called Farrah’s Story.  I have seen some of it and it is definitely powerful.  I just wanted to send my condolences out to her family and friends.  RIP Farrah Fawcett.

Distant Relatives

Nas and Damian Marley

U see me hiding under the table???

I just wanted to share some more Damian Marley and Nas information with you guys.  Here is a video previewing their album.  I can’t lie, I am SOOOOO jealous of Nas.  Damian Marley is one of my idols, straight up!!!!  I can’t even imagine meeting dude, let alone kicking it in the studio and recording a whole album with him.  He is the son of one of the world’s biggest icons and he will definitely go down in history as one of the great artists of our time.  I will keep you all posted with any developments and news regarding their album.  Big up to Nas too for fucking with a the Marley family.  I have a lot of respect for Nas as well.

This Means War

Kim Kong Il

Why is this dude sitting around naked?  You think RAPPERS got hella groupies?  Imagine the type of pussy THIS dude is getting.

Kim Jong Il

Dude looks more like Elvis than a dictator.  Are those Prada shades?

I can’t pretend that I follow the news, politics and world happenings as closely as I do hip hop but an interesting thought popped into my head.  Of course by now, everyone knows that the United States is suffering the worst depression/recession/economic crisis(whatever you want to call it) since the Great Depression.  Ask your parents and grandparents, they will definitely tell you that they have never seen things this bad since the Depression.  Your parents are experiencing the hardest economic time since the 80′s but from my understanding, it’s a lot worse this time.  I’m not sure how many of you stayed awake during history class but World War 2 was one of the primary reasons that pulled the US out of the Great Depression.  The country(from what I remember) came together and created jobs, programs and industry geared towards the war and rebuilding our country.  I’m not exactly sure why it took a World War for the US to get their shit together but a lot of times triumph comes in the face of tragedy.  Today’s economic status is a tragedy.  We are the wealthiest and most advanced country in the world and still we let our country get to this point.  All of that, made me think about the situation with North Korea.  I don’t really keep it with all the “goings on” between us and North Korea but I know they are threatening us with force and even NUKES.  They have been testing nuke’s for a while and apparently have the capabilities.  I heard that they threatened to nuke Hawaii too(man Hawaii hasn’t done anything to anyone but besides be prettier than most of the world).  Everyone knows that Kim Jong Il is one crazy as bastard.  Just watch Team America: World Police.  Who knows what that cat will actually do.  It really made me think about what the world would be like if we started exchanging nukes with North Korea and went to war during one of the US’s lowest moments.  Would we as citizen’s rally behind the government and go to war?  Would we protest and start moving to Canada? And would a war turn our economic status around and pull us out of this recession like World War 2 did?  I don’t have any idea what would happen.  All I know is that shit is fucked up and history teaches valuable lessons.  It is something to ponder.  It might be beneficial to start thinking about what you would do if things really go haywire.  I don’t know what I would do but I might have to polish up my boots and die for the freedoms and liberities that we take for granted every day.  Imagine if George Bush was our leader for decades and all of the reading materials, music and television shows were how about Bush was our “God.”  Talk about brainwashed.  Kim Jong Il is no joke.  Just something to think about while I continuously bless ya’ll with beautiful music and hip hop commentary.  Now to lighten the mood, enjoy two of my personal favorites from Kardinal and Bob Marley both aptly titled War.  This means WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!

Take Your Time

Pete Rock

“I watch time stand still I’m just one man”

It’s crazy how a song can give you the feeling of a certain time of day.  Some mornings I need music to give me a boost to jump start my day and other mornings I just need to zone out.  Today I took a trip back to 98/99 and through in Pete Rock’s Soul Survivor.  I can’t even remember the last time I listened to this album.  This whole record takes me back to my freshman/sophomore year, rolling around in Logan’s gold Honda.  I remember how dope Pete Rock’s beats are but I forgot how nice he was on the mic too.  Pete Rock was NICE.  Joints like Tru Master and Half Man Half Amazing show PR’s abilities to stand alongside Inspectah Deck, Kurupt and Method Man.  My favorite joint on this album and the perfect song to start my day is Take Your Time.  The whole vibe is incredible.  It’s one of those songs that I could play for anyone, regardless of age and I guarantee they could appreciate it.  I might email it to my grandma later.  I can just imagine my grandma bumping Pete Rock at her next bridge club get together.  How ill would that be?  I had to run this song back 3 times this morning and I will probably listen to it at least 4 more times today.  This is hip hop at it’s finest.  I haven’t even made it through half the tracks on the album because of this song.  I am kind of excited to listen to Verbal Murder and Strange Fruit.  So I welcome you all to kick back, zone out and enjoy some classic shit.  I had a hard time even finding this song on the internet.  What type of this is that?????
