Farewell The Chose One

Last night was kind of a bittersweet moment for me.  Watching Lebron and the Cavs totally blow it sucked something terrible.  However, it always warms my heart to see underdogs win especially in the NBA.  The Orlando Magic not only beat the Cavs but they silenced critics and pretty much dominated the series.  Although I want Lebron to win a title, I also love to see a team like the Magic in the finals.  Now I’m on gonna jump on the bandwagon and say GO MAGIC!!!!!  I love Turkoglu and Lewis and now Pietrus is one of my favorite players in the NBA.  So if you need another reminder, NBA Finals are this week.  Don’t miss them.

Birthday Sex Official Video

And the moment you all(meaning me) have all been waiting for……….the premiere of Jeremih’s Birthday Sex.  I’m not gonna front though, I thought the video was gonna be a little bit hotter with a badder female.  Kanye was right, “when he get on he’ll leave your ass for a white girl.”  I wish he would have put Roxy Reynolds or Ice La Fox in the video.  Anyways, enjoy!!!

I am a witness..

No, I’m not talking about Lebron or those dumb puppets I’ve been seeing on T.V. lately.  Really though, could Nike have jinxed both of those guys any worse?  I am a witness to the holy grail of combinations coming from the mouths of Bo, Dj Tanner and your very own Mike Schpitz.  By the way, I appreciate the love on the O.G.’s tab.  I must say, I’m glad to be back in the blogging game.  Considering I have a lot of time on my hands these days.  Like the bio says, if you want the brutal honest truth from me, I won’t hold back.  Once I figure out what’s going on with this site, although it looks like it’s loosely based around the hip hop foundation, I will come harder then Kimbo Slice.  Get it right or pay the price.  Large Marge, aka Large Margarine…the list goes on.  Let me add, I might enjoy some of the worst hip hop music on the planet according to you, but I will back it up 100%.  First example, favorite rapper is Yung Joc.  Not of all time so don’t get your tongue tied trying to type a response, let it go.  Just saying..he’s the man.  On another note, that Whooty song is absolutely terrible and if it ever becomes popular I will protest that harder then the War in Iraq..I’m out!

Album I Wish I Could Hear For The 1st Time Again…

Fugees_score
The FugeesThe Score

so this is the first post in what will be a semi-regular topic on here. i’m gonna do little reviews on albums/songs/movies that i wish i could see or hear for the very first time again. so while thinking on this topic, this was the first album that popped into my head. The Score dropped at a really pivotal time in my life and helped shape who i am today. i was midway through my last semester at Topeka High School. i had a really great core group of friends and had also just started hanging with a few younger ones too. i met one of the coolest girls i know at this time as well. we were all drunks, loved crashing friend’s basements for impromptu parties, and basically just wilded out. so this album was getting ready to drop as all this stuff was happening around me. i seemed to be the only person around that had heard of The Fugees. i had been singing Fu-Gee-La for several weeks before anyone else took notice of The Fugees. i had tickets to a Fugees/Roots/Goodie Mob show in Lawrence, and couldn’t find anyone to go with me. i finally got my brother and his buddy to roll with me, and damn was that show bangin. the album finally dropped and most of my friends started singing along with me. shit was glorious.

the first night i got the album, i listened to it all the way through, twice. i was in a trance. wyclef crafted a perfect sonic backdrop for the creative rhymes that all 3 members brought to the table. they were playful, thoughtful, smart, and of course, Lauryn has that voice that tears at my heart. i still get goosebumps when i listen to the album. i guess i really want to hear this album with fresh ears again because of how great the first time was and all the emotions it brings back. there’s not a lot of albums these days that i can play front to back repeatedly and still be satisfied. The Score is that album.

Lebron James

Lebron James

After missing the Tuesday and Wednesday night games, I watched game 5 of the Magic vs Cavs series and of course, it did not disappoint.  The Cavs came out on fire and Mo Williams was lights out from three.  The Magic came back towards the end of the half and actually led for a decent amount of the second half until Lebron just tookover.  In the fourth quarter in particular, the Cavs had Lebron post up at the free throw thing and just facilitate the entire offense.  He either took it to the rack and scored, got fouled or made an assist.  He had his hand in almost every point in the fourth quarter either scoring or assisting on damn near every bucket.  Lebron ended the game with 37 points, 12 assists and 14 boards and the Cavs brought the series to closer 3-2, with the Magic leading by one game.  It was unreal how Lebron just took over the entire game and dominated the whole fourth quarter.  He looked like he was playing back in high school, picking and choosing his attack.  Anyways, point being, watch the rest of the playoffs.   It has been AMAZING!!!!!

First off it’s Friday!!!!!!!!!!!  Secondly, it’s an AMAZING day in Chicago.  71 degrees and the sun is shining and the weather is sweet.  I think yesterday’s theme song might be more fitting for today.  Anyways, last night I managed to get my hands on a copy of the late, great J Dilla’s new album, Jay Stay Paid.  I can’t lie, I was pretty excited about hearing some “new” J Dilla shit, especially after hearing that Black Thought joint a few weeks ago.  Which leads me to my song of the day.  Reality Check featuring Black Thought.  When I heard the joint on HipHopDx a few weeks ago, I already knew it would be dope but I didn’t really listen too hard.  Today when I heard that shit, I was blown away.  The reason the song is called Reality Check is because Thought raps about his girl watching damn near every reality TV ever aired.  He even talks about the ones he wants to watch but his girl want let him.  This is one of the dopest verses/songs I have heard in a while.  It especially hit a sensative spot for me because the two women I spend the most time with watch those damn shows ALL THE TIME.  I can’t front though because I have watched my fair share of reality TV but this shit has gotten out of hand.  So fellas, check it out because Black Thought explains the TV power struggle between women and men and how women are more concerned with someone else’s reality than their own.  Ladies takes notes and turn that BULLSHIT off unless its Candy Girls.  JK.  RIP J DIllA.  G.O.A.T.

Jeremih Birthday Sex

Jeremih Birthday Sex

Perhaps the HOTTEST song on the planet right now(maybe just in my mind), Birthday Sex from former Columbia College student Jeremih, is my favorite shit out.  I find myself singing the lyrics at least 4 times a day.  My roommate especially likes when I sing it in the middle of Law and Order: SVU.  Anyways, here is the teaser for the official video.  This shis is gonna be EPIC.  Watch the video and check out the full song below too.   The R. Kelly remix is kinda ill too.  Jeremih Birthday Sex

One Weekend/Two Great Movies

Cars

Cars

Over Memorial Day Weekend, I had the chance to watch two movies that changed my life forever(well….not exactly BUT kinda).  While kickin it at the crib on Saturday, the Pixar film Cars came on.  Typically, I enjoy these movies but I was not expecting to fall in love.  Cars brought back the same feelings I use to have when I would watch Aladdin every day before school.  I don’t know if it was because I like cars in general or because Cheech Marin was the voice of the lowrider with hydraulics but  for whatever reason, I absolutely fell in love with Cars.  In fact, it came on again on Sunday and I watched it and enjoyed it even more the second time around.  I know I am SUPER late on watching this movie but if you haven’t checked it out already, you MUST do so immediately.  It’s a touching story.  2 thumbs up!!!!!!

Star Trek

Star Trek

On Memorial Day(a well needed day off), I went to the theatres with a special friend to see Star Trek.  Originally I had NO interest in seeing it but everyone had been telling me that it was really good.  So we decided to go see it.  I was seriously blown away.  I absolutely loved every minute of the movie(my sour gummy jolly ranchers weren’t too bad either).  It not only lived up to all the hype but it was way better than I even imagined.  Scotty was the shit.  Uhura was gorgeous and even though Spock stole her from me, I loved Spock’s character too.  Captian Kirk was a beast.  The Russian dude was hilarious.  And Harold from Harold and Kumar was amazing with the sword.  I HIGHLY recommend seeing it even if you have know NOTHING about the show.  It’s a great movie.  Needless to say, now I am collecting all the Star Trek glasses from Burger King.

Amazing Happens

Lebron James

First let me say that I am a HUGE basketball fan.  I have played my entire life and followed college and pro ball for as long as I can remember.  I didn’t  analyze the game like I do now but I have always kept up with players and teams.  For the last 5 years or so, I have been watching A LOT of NBA ball, probably even more than college(with the exception of the Kansas Jayhawks).  I actually enjoy the game more than college because of the things that pro basketball players can do.   They are, in my opinion, the best athletes on the planet and do unbelievable shit on a consistent basis.  Whether its Kobe Bryant hitting turn around, fade away three’s as easily as he dunks or Chris Paul handling the ball like its attached to a string, these guys make the game look so easy.  This year in particular, teams and players, have elevated their games to a level that hasn’t been seen in a LONG time.  The NBA caught a lof of flack in recent years for lack of passion for the game but this year has been so much fun to watch.  The playoffs have been as exciting as March Madness.  In fact, the Bulls vs Celtics series was the best series I have ever seen and will go down in history as one of the greatest series of all time.  The NBA has also done a phenomenal marketing and advertising this year.  The Kobe vs Lebron puppet commercials and the “Where Amazing Happens” commercials with Kanye West’s song playing are bringing much more attention to the games and the series themselves.  So please everyone, whether you are a fan of basketbal or not(I converted my roommate to a Lebron fan), take some time to watch a few games and really pay attention to the plays that these guys are able to make.  Keep in mind they are playing against the greatest players in the world making the game look easy.  It really is amazing.

PS………The favorite to win the whole thing, The Cleveland Cavaliers, are about to lose to the magic.  I Love This Game!!!!!

Good Evening/Good Morning

Bob Marley

Bob Marley

There is nothing like going to bed after a good night except waking up after a good night to a good morning.  Yesterday my guy hit me up about performing  a couple joints at the Lyricist Fix show in Chicago with Rhymefest.  So naturally I was pretty geeked to be able to share the stage with Fest.  I got to the show last night and was told I was rocking first.  Rhymefest grabbed the mic for his hosting duties and introduced the first act and it wasn’t me.  At this point, I am assuming that because of the late start, I won’t get to perform.  After the first act, Rhymefest gets on the mic again, does a joint or two then welcomes me to the stage.  It was crazy walking up to the stage and grabbing the mic from Rhymefest and performing with him in the front row.  The rest goes as expected.  Me and Slot kill it.  We had everyone in the spot yelling “Get The Fuck Up!!!!!”  We finish with a joint from my “Stapler” album and had the whole crowd rocking.  Needless to say last night was real cool.  Fast forward 6 hours of sleep.  I woke up with a slight hangover from drinking coors and miller lite all night, shower, get dressed and get to my car when I notice something under my windshield whiper.  I open the bag and it is a bootleg copy of my NEW favorite movie, Cars.  Now I’m feeling like a million bucks so I pop in the soundtrack for the reggae/dancehall documentary “Made in Jamaica” and ride to the first 4 songs.  When the 5th song comes on, it’s Bob Marley’s “Sun is Shining” and it pretty much explain exactly how I am feeling.  Despite the sun NOT actually shining, the song makes  you feel like you literally just woke up, stepped outside and the day feels like everything is perfect.  So despite the overcast and cloudy day in Chicago, the sun is DEFINITELY shining on me today.
